"Academic/Athletics FIGHT ON!"
An "Academic Honors Awards Assembly" is held each
semester at ECHS. Pictured above are the 2006 Academic Honors Award recipients.
A student must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher to
qualify for this special academic recognition.
During the January 2006 assembly, 161 students were presented
a certificate of academic merit and a specially designed t-shirt with
the wording:
"Academic/Athletics FIGHT ON!" as
a way of honoring their outstanding academic accomplishments.
Academics
Mission Statement
Escondido Charter High School (ECHS) is committed to
providing a safe and orderly learning environment in which teachers will
be responsible for implementing a curriculum based on the fundamental
skills that form the foundation of learning: reading, writing,
mathematics, and computer skills.
Accomplishment in academic areas will be stressed. In addition, the Escondido
Charter High School will emphasize the understanding and appreciation
of American Civilization and United States History.
ECHS believes that parents and the school share a dual
responsibility in developing the education plan that will provide the
individual student the opportunity to succeed both as a scholar and as
a citizen.
1. ECHS offers a rigorous College Preparatory
program. This program has a back-to-basics focus, which allows students
more time to focus on the core components of education:
* English
* Mathematics
* Science
* Computer Technology
* U.S. History
2. ECHS also offers an Individualized
Learning Program (ILP) that provides flexible scheduling by offering independent
study combined with classroom and lab instruction.
Special features include:
* One-on-one instruction
* Work at your own pace
* Small module classes for math
* On-site computer education
* College Prep or General level
* Year-round enrollment and classes
* Writing modules
* Blended classroom instruction for Lab Science and Foreign Language
* On-site Learning Center for mathematics
Students must demonstrate minimum levels of reading and math
proficiency to be eligible for this program.
3. ECHS also offers a variety of specialty programs
to meet varying educational needs.
* SAT preparation class
* Cooperative agreement with Palomar College for earning college credits
concurrently while in high school
* Earn credits for Work Study
* Remedial instruction for math and language arts
* On-site tutoring available
4. ECHS is a California public school. There is NO tuition.
College preparatory courses at ECHS meet the admission requirements of
the University of California and California State universities.

Academic Awards Assembly:
ECHS held its first Academic Awards Assembly for the 2006/2007 on Friday,
September 15th. Awards were given for:
Coach’s List (4.0 GPA)
Honor Roll (3.5+ GPA)
Academic Recognition (3.2-3.4 GPA)

final day of "Spirit Week". On this final day of "Spirit
Week", it was "Fairytale Day" so you will see many fairytale
characters receiving awards. The images are NOT of every student that
received an award, as the Football Team and our Cheerleaders were on the
