ESCONDIDO CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL
GOLF TEAM EXPECTATIONS
SPRING, 2007

1. All golfers must have their own set of clubs and golf balls.

2. Shirts and caps will be provided by the school, and must be worn to every match. We will be practicing or playing up to four times per week. It is expected that the shirts will be clean for each match. For practices alternate golf attire may be worn, but golfers will always be neat and properly dressed for the sport.

3. All golfers must provide and wear black dickie-like/docker-like pants. Black conservative shorts (no cargo shorts, not baggie or sagging) are permissible when the weather gets warmer, but only for practices.

4. All golfers must supply their own golf shoes. NO metal spikes will be allowed.

5. All golfers are required to carry their own clubs. Therefore, please have a bag that is light in weight.

6. All matches will begin at 3:00 P.M. prior to daylight savings. All home matches after the time change will begin at 3:30 P.M. All away matches after the time change will be at the discretion of the host school. Practices will start at 3:30. No school will be missed for practices. Players should arrive on time for practices and at least 15 minutes early for matches to warm up.

7. All players are expected to attend all practices and matches to which they are assigned. All absences must be excused by a parent prior to the scheduled event. Excuses from players will not be accepted. Any player who has more than three (3) unexcused absences will be dropped from the team. Any player who has more than eight (8) total absences will be dropped from the team.

8. For the varsity team, parents must provide transportation to all practices and home matches. The school van will be used for all away matches. All boys will be brought back to the school immediately after away matches (usually around 6:30 P.M. depending on distance) unless prior arrangements have been made.

9. For the junior varsity team, parents must provide transportation for their son or daughter to get to all practices and matches. Most of these have been scheduled locally. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

10. All golfers are expected to attend all practices and matches they have
been assigned to play. Any golfer who does not show up for a scheduled
match without a valid excuse will be cut from the team. Any golfer who has three unexcused absences from practice during the season will be cut from the team.

11. The varsity team is being sponsored by Eagle Crest Golf Club in Escondido out by the Wild Animal Park and by Woods Valley Golf Club in Valley Center. The junior varsity team is being sponsored by Oaks North Golf Course in Rancho Bernardo on and by Reidy Creek Golf Course in Escondido.

12. Any displays of anger/aggression horseplay or goofing off at practices or during any match will not be tolerated: (a) CIF rules forbid foul language. If a player swears, he could be penalized, his score could be forfeited, or the entire match could be forfeited depending on the decision of the coaches from both schools. His parents will be notified. If this behavior persists, a meeting will be held with the coach, the boy and his parents to discuss the feasibility of the boy remaining on the team. (b) No acts of aggression will be tolerated, i.e. no bending or throwing any club, no throwing golf balls into the water, etc. No horseplay or goofing off will be tolerated. Any of these types of acts will require the player to forfeit his score. If a player is guilty of any act of anger/aggression, he will be warned once that this behavior will not be tolerated again and his parents will be notified. If the behavior reoccurs, the player will be dropped from the team.

13. The golf season officially ends with our final match on Thursday, April 26. The varsity team will also play in the North County League Tournament on Thursday, May 3rd. Selected players may also participate in the CIF Championships on Monday, May 7th. An awards banquet will be held at the end of the season. The exact date, time and location will be announced.

14. During the season all essential communications with players and parents will be handled on the ECHS website golf page:
http://www.echs.org/athletics/golf/Golf.html

Players and parents are responsible for keeping themselves informed of all schedule changes, announcements, etc.
