Week 2

Back-to-School Night: All parents of TCP and Blended students are invited to Back-to-School Night on Thursday, August 24. Please assemble on the Commons by 7:00 p.m. to kick-off the evening. We hope you take this opportunity to meet your student’s teachers, learn about course objectives, and ask questions. See you there!

Independent Study PE (TCP): Students who participated in the ISPE program during the summer are reminded that all logs and essays are to be submitted to Mrs. Lasley (Room F202) on Tuesday, August 29. Meetings to discuss the program and hand out ISPE contracts for the fall semester are scheduled as follows: seniors and juniors, Tuesday, August 22; sophomores, Wednesday, August 23; freshmen, Thursday, August 24. The meetings will start at 3:00 p.m. in the Student Union. Attendance is mandatory for all students assigned ISPE.

Fundraiser: The Parent Advisory Board and Athletics have created a new partnership for the Annual Dinner/Auction Fundraiser to be held on Friday, September 29 starting at 6:30 p.m. on the Commons. The theme is "Western Round Up the Funds" and there will be a barbecue dinner of tri-tip and chicken provided by HUNTER'S STEAKHOUSE. Tickets are $15 per person through September 22 and $20 thereafter. Parent volunteers are critical to the success of this event and other PAB sponsored activities. If you can volunteer to help with the auction and/or any other of our student activities, please call the school or sign up at the PAB table during Back-to-School Night, on Thursday, August 24, at 7 p.m. In addition, if you have items that you would like to donate to the Silent or Live Auctions, please call Belinda Oberle (PAB President) at 760-291-1422.

Drivers Ed (TCP): Drivers Ed will be offered after school on Monday afternoons from 3:05 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students who whish to enroll must (1) have at least a 2.0 GPA, (2) have been 15 years old on or before June 16, 2006, (3) have parent permission to take the course, and (4) be one of the first 20 to register for the course. Students can obtain a registration form from Mr. Waterhouse in room C101. The first class session will be held on August 28. Remember, the course is limited to 20 students.

Join ASB: Want to be an ASB representative? You can sign-up now until August 24 with Mr. Takagi, in room E100. Campaigning starts the 28 until the 1st of September. And you will need to give a speech on September 1! An ASB representative will be needed to plan and execute school events such as dances and lunch activities.

Parking Permits: All ILP and TCP students parking a car at school must register or re-register their vehicle and obtain a parking permit prior to September 8. Registration forms may be picked up at the Main Office. A parking permit will be issued when the registration form is completed and returned to the Main Office. After September 8, vehicles without parking permits will be given one warning and then booted.

Movie Premiere: ECHS, along with Carson Patrick Productions, invites you to the most anticipated movie event of the summer! Mark your ECHS Daily Planner and join us August 25th for White Saw, the new horror/comedy from writer/director Carson Patrick. Prepare yourself for a night so scary, you’ll laugh yourself silly! Everyone is welcome to this blockbuster event, in the Student Union, from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Refreshments will be sold to help the wrestling team.

Sports Events: Cross-Country practice will be held every day this week after school from 3:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Students are to meet at school.
Volleyball Tryouts: Volleyball tryouts will be held on Tuesday, August 22 and Thursday, August 24 from 3:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the YMCA center on Broadway Ave. in Escondido.
Football Practice: Football practice will be held every day this week from 3:10 p.m. on the athletic field.
Football Scrimmage: There will be a scrimmage held on Saturday, August 26 from 6 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. at La Jolla Country Day School located at 9490 Genesee Ave. La Jolla, CA 92037.
Join The Dance Team! Auditions will be held on August 29, 30, & September 5 at 3:15 p.m. in the Student Union. If you did not attend the audition meeting, stop by room G102 to pick up the paperwork needed for the audition.
FCA: There will be a leadership informational meeting for FCA (Fellowship of Christian “Academians”) in Mr. Brose’s room, C-201, on Friday, August 25, during lunch for all Christians interested in making a difference for Christ at Escondido Charter High School.

Chess Club: Join the ECHS Chess Club or just come up and enjoy a match! The chess club meets every Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in F-203.

NHS: Community Service at Town & Country begins this Tuesday. See Ms. Rittenhouse to sign up for any Tuesday this semester. The next all-member meeting will be Sept. 12.

Popsicles: Bring your quarters! NHS will begin selling popsicles at lunch soon!
