Escondido Charter High School
"Education Is Our Business"
Charter Notes
Thursday and Friday, September 14 & 15, 2006
Week 5
Fall Sports and ISPE:
If you are playing a fall sport (football, cross country, or volleyball)
and complete the season, you will earn 5 PE credits for your participation.
As it is difficult to complete the requirements for both a sport and ISPE
at the same time, fall sports participants are advised to drop ISPE. In
order to drop ISPE, a parent must contact Mrs. McCrory via e-mail (kmccrory@echs.org)
or phone (737-3154) to request the drop from ISPE. Students playing a fall
sport will remain enrolled in ISPE until parent notification to drop the
course is received.
End of Grading Period:
Friday, September 15 marks the end of the first grading period. Progress
reports will be distributed on Wednesday, September 20.
Awards Assembly:
An assembly to recognize students who earned honor roll status for the
second semester of last school year will be held tomorrow, September 15.
All students should assemble on the Commons at 2:00 p.m. Congratulations
to all the honor roll students!
Note: The schedule for the awards assembly is attached.
Support Our Troops:
For the next six weeks, TCP will be involved in a fundraiser in conjunction
with Blue Star Mothers of America to raise money that will be used by
military personnel serving over seas for postage during the holidays.
The fundraiser begins today, September 11 and will end on Veterans Day.
The fundraiser will take place in the first period classes. The class
that raises the most money will win a pizza party during lunch.
PSAT Exam:
The PSAT Exam will be administered this year on Saturday, October 21 in
the ECHS Library. All college bound juniors are encouraged to take the
PSAT Exam, an excellent opportunity to prepare for the SAT and possibly
enter the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Registration this week
(9/11-9/15) is limited to juniors. Sophomores will be permitted to register
beginning Monday, 9/18. See Mrs. McCrory in the library to register. Payment,
$12 cash (exact change) or check (made payable to ECHS) must be provided
at the time of registration. ILP students can also see Mrs. Endermann
in the library to register. Space is limited to the first 75 students
who register, so don’t delay, sign up today!
College Applications:
All seniors received an updated copy of their transcript to assist in
filling out college applications. Begin working on your applications well
in advance of the deadlines, November 30 for California State Universities
(CSU) and University of California (UC) campuses. Private college application
deadlines vary between November and February. To begin working on an application
for a CSU campus, visit www.csumentor.edu. To begin working on an application
