Week 7
Columbus Day:
Monday, October 9 is a holiday, Columbus Day; school will be closed. Enjoy
the long weekend.
Support Our Troops:
Support the Blue Star Mothers of America fundraiser, taking place in first
period classes. The money you donate will help provide postage for military
personnel serving over seas to use during the holidays. The fundraiser
will end on Veterans Day and the class that raises the most money will
win a pizza party during lunch.
PSAT Exam:
Only 8 spaces left! See Mrs. McCrory or Mrs. Endermann in the library
with your $12 payment (cash or check made payable to ECHS) to register.
Costa Rica Trip:
Are you interested in going to Costa Rica for 12 days to study sea turtles?
Bring your parents to an informational meeting on October 3 at 7:00 p.m.
in F103, or see Ms. Wood in the main office for more information.
Parent Advisory Board Meeting:
All Parents are invited to attend the Parent Advisory Board meeting on
Tuesday, October 3 at 7:00 pm in the library. The Parent Advisory Board
will review the results of the Auction Fundraiser as well as have two
guest speakers present on the topic of "Student Internet Safety."
The speakers will be Greg Writer, CEO of Internet Educational Network,
and an officer from the Escondido police department. Please join us for
what is sure to be a very informative evening.
It’s Prom Time!
If you are a junior or senior and would like to serve on the prom committee
this year, please come to the first planning meeting on Thursday, Oct.
5 in Mrs. Soule’s room (C102). The meeting will be held during lunch.
Come ASAP – I have a microwave if needed. The prom will only be
as fun as you make it, so come and share your ideas.
Charter Olympics:
Next week during lunch ASB will sponsor the Charter Olympics. Each day
the Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will prove their worth in
a different Olympic event.
Monday: Bellwork Pass in Showdown
Tuesday: Tent Stuffing
Wednesday: Musical Lunches
Thursday: Newspaper Costume Contest
Friday: Somersault Bowling
The first place team will win 5 points, second place 3 points and third
place one point. On Friday, October 13, the winning class will get to
soak an unnamed authority figures in a dunk tank during lunch. Come out
and participate - greater participation equals a greater chance of winning.

The 5th Annual American Heritage Education Foundation Golf Tournament
will be held on Thursday,
October 26 at Maderas Golf Club in Poway. Registration forms are available
in the Main Office or may be downloaded from our website at www.echs.org.
Western Roundup:
Due to the overwhelming response, tickets for the Western Round-Up Fundraiser
are now sold out. Thanks to all the parents, students, and community members
who purchased tickets to help support ECHS!
Decorative Western Items:
The PAB is looking for decorative items you are willing to donate or lend
for the evening: western blankets, cowboy hats, wagon wheels, milk containers,
brands, silk flowers, old boots or anything that could be used for the
western ambiance. We are also looking for a hay wagon or carriage to be
used at the entrance to the school. If you have any of these items please

Food Service Employment Opportunity:
Skate and Dime Pizza, the snack bar located inside Ice-O-Plex (555 N.
Tulip), is looking for a few part-time employees to work up to 15 hours
per week. Hours will primarily be scheduled for weekends. Starting wage
for the position is $6.75/hr. Interested students, 16 years of age or
older, should contact Linda by calling 743-4171, Monday-Friday after 2:30
p.m.
Girl’s Soccer Meeting:
Girl’s interested in soccer are invited to attend an informational
meeting on Monday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. in Mr. Torres’ classroom
(F201). We will discuss the season requirements, expectations, and events.
Contact Mr. Torres or Mr. Page (ILP) for more information. This is a mandatory
meeting. If you will not be able to attend, please contact one of the
coaches. Go ECHS White Tiger soccer!
Cross Country:
The team continues to practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday,
from 3:15-5:00 p.m.. This Saturday, September 30, the team will travel
to Yucaipa High School for a meet at 7:30 a.m. The team will need to meet
at the Deer Springs Park and ride at 5:30 a.m. in order to travel to the
meet. Go White Tiger Runners!
Football:
Last Friday, September 22, our White Tigers lost to the Upland Christian
Eagles, 56-8. However, this week we will attempt to rebound against the
Tri-City Christian Eagles’ JV team on Saturday, September 30, at
11:00 a.m.. The game will be played at El Camino High School. Directions
to El Camino High School will be available at the Main Office. The football
team’s overall season record 2-2. Go White Tiger Football!
Girls’ Volleyball:
Last Thursday, September 21, our girls played a great match against the
San Pasqual Academy, losing 3-2. Tuesday, September 26 the girls defeated
Sun Valley Charter HS, 3-2. Their overall record is 2-1. Go White Tiger
volleyball!
FCA:
(Fellowship of Christian Athletes/Academians) meets every Wednesday at
lunchtime in Room C-201 (Mr. Brose’s classroom). Come and join the
fun and the fellowship!
