CHARTER NOTES
Monday thru Wednesday, October 16 to 18, 2006
Week 10
ISPE (TCP):
ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Wednesday. All ISPE
logs, essays, and contracts should be placed in the basket in the Library!
End of Grading Period (TCP):
Friday, October 13 marked the end of the second grading period. Progress
reports will be distributed on Wednesday, October 18.
Caps and Gowns (TCP):
A sales representative from Balfour will be on campus on Wednesday, October
18 to take orders for caps and gowns, class rings, etc. Order forms were
distributed to seniors on Thursday, October 12. Students will be able
to get additional order forms from the sales representative on Wednesday.

PSAT Exam:
The PSAT Exam will be administered this Saturday, October 21. All students
who registered are reminded to report to the library at 7:45 a.m. and
bring #2 pencils and a calculator. Students who arrive late will not be
admitted for testing.
Community Service Requirement (TCP):
All students are required to complete a minimum four hours of community
service per semester. Hours must be recorded and submitted on the Community
Service Record Form available in the main office. Students are advised
to pick-up a copy of the form in advance of the community service event
in order to acquire the necessary supervisor’s signature. In order
to qualify as community service, an activity must benefit an individual
or group in the community.
Community Cleanup:
Escondido Charter High School is sponsoring a community cleanup along
East Valley Parkway on Saturday, October 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The cleanup is an excellent way for students to complete the four hours
of community service required each semester. Students, parents, and staff
are invited to join us! All supplies will be provided for cleaning. Free
food and drink will be served at 12:00 p.m. See you there!
Senior Scholarships:
Seven new scholarships are posted on the bulletin in the library outside
Mrs. McCrory’s office. The scholarships are sponsored by: SAE Engineering,
CSU Chico, Better Business Bureau, National Commission for Co-Op Education,
Point Loma Credit Union, AXA Achievement, and Gates Foundation. All seniors
are encouraged to review the postings for possible opportunities to earn
cash for college.
Campaign Volunteers:
ECHS seniors are invited to volunteer for Governor Schwarzenegger’s
re-election campaign. Interested students should contact Brian Watkins
at (619) 279-7252. Take advantage of this opportunity to participate in
the political process.
HURRY!
There are still some player spots available for the 5th Annual American
Heritage Education Foundation Golf Tournament. The tournament will be
held on Thursday, October 26 at Maderas Golf Club in Poway. Registration
forms are available in the Main Office or may be downloaded from our website
at www.echs.org.
It’s Prom Time!
Seniors and juniors, come join the Prom Committee in Mrs. Soule’s
room (C102) at lunch every Thursday.
CSF:
CSF will meet on Tuesday, October 17 at 12:30 p.m. in F-203. Officers,
please see Ms. Rittenhouse on Monday.
NHS:
The next NHS meeting will be Tuesday, October 24, at 12:30 p.m. in F-203.
Chess Club:
Join the chess club today, October 16, at 3 p.m. in F-203 to be challenged
and to learn chess strategy.
Cross-Country:
Congratulations to our cross country teams who competed in the Coastal
League Meet on Thursday, October 12 at Guajome Park. The boys’ team
took second place and the girls’ team took third place. Great teamwork,
White Tiger Runners! The next meet will be Friday, October 20, the Jaguar
Invitational, which will be held at Kit Carson Park at 3:30 p.m. TCP students
will be released from school at 2:00 PM. Go ECHS White Tiger runners!
Football:
The ECHS football team’s overall record is 4-2. This Friday, October
20, will be our first home football game! Come and watch our White Tigers
as they battle the Christian Life Academy! There will be a JV contest
at 3:45 p.m., and the varsity game will begin at 5:30 p.m. The cost is
$5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students without an ID, and $2.00 for students
with an ID. Come and cheer on our White Tigers!
Volleyball:
Congratulations to our White Tiger volleyball team, who won their matches
against Sierra Madre on Wednesday, October 11, and against the Christian
Life Academy on Thursday, October 12! This week the girls will compete
against Sun Valley Charter HS on Tuesday, October 17 at 3:30 p.m., at
the YMCA center on North Broadway Ave in Escondido. Keep up the great
work, ECHS White Tiger volleyball team!
Attention:
Winter sports participants (Wrestling, Soccer, Basketball) are reminded
you need to submit your athletic handbook forms to your respective winter
sport coach or turn the forms into the main office by November 13 (first
official day of winter sports practices). Athletes cannot practice unless
an athletic handbook form is on file. If you have any questions, please
contact Mr. Brose.
FCA:
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet on Wednesday, October 18
during lunch in Room C-201. Come and share with us!
