Escondido Charter High School
"Education Is Our Business"
CHARTER NOTES
Thursday thru Friday, October 19 to 20, 2006
Week 10
PSAT Exam:
The PSAT Exam will be administered this Saturday, October 21. All students
who registered are reminded to report to the library at 7:45 a.m. and
bring #2 pencils and a calculator. Students who arrive late will not be
admitted for testing.
Community Service Requirement (TCP):
All students are required to complete a minimum four hours of community
service per semester. Hours must be recorded and submitted on the Community
Service Record Form available in the main office. Students are advised
to pick-up a copy of the form in advance of the community service event
in order to acquire the necessary supervisor’s signature. In order
to qualify as community service, an activity must benefit an individual
or group in the community.
Community Cleanup:
Escondido Charter High School is sponsoring a community cleanup along
East Valley Parkway on Saturday, October 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The cleanup is an excellent way for students to complete the four hours
of community service required each semester. Students, parents, and staff
are invited to join us! All supplies will be provided for cleaning. Free
food and drink will be served at 12:00 p.m. See you there!
Homecoming:
Attention Charter Students, the "Enchantment Under the Sea"
Homecoming dance is just weeks away. The evening will take place at Church
of the Resurrection on Saturday, November 11 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The
night will be filled with music, dancing and food. Tickets for this spectacular
event will be sold at lunch beginning Monday, October 23. Purchases should
be made in haste, as the initial price of $25 will rise on November 6.
ILP students can buy tickets from the main office. TCP students can only
purchase tickets during lunch. No tickets will be sold to TCP students
in the office. Students wishing to bring a guest must fill out the guest
pass application and have it approved before buying the guest's ticket.
Blood Drive:
Please help support the ECHS Blood Drive sponsored by the Biology II class.
The Blood Drive will be held at ECHS on Tuesday, October 31, from 8:30
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There is a sign-up sheet in the Main Office and a table
will be set up at lunch in front of the Library for sign-ups. 17-year
old students need to fill out a permission slip in order to donate blood.
The entire community is invited, so tell your friends, family, and neighbors!
Thanks for your support!
Senior Scholarships:
Seven new scholarships are posted on the bulletin in the library outside
Mrs. McCrory’s office. The scholarships are sponsored by: SAE Engineering,
CSU Chico, Better Business Bureau, National Commission for Co-Op Education,
Point Loma Credit Union, AXA Achievement, and Gates Foundation. All seniors
are encouraged to review the postings for possible opportunities to earn
cash for college.
Campaign Volunteers:
ECHS seniors are invited to volunteer for Governor Schwarzenegger’s
re-election campaign. Interested students should contact Brian Watkins
at (619) 279-7252. Take advantage of this opportunity to participate in
the political process.
Closed Campus (TCP):
Students are reminded that ECHS is a closed campus. All TCP students must
remain on campus during school hours (8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Once students
are dropped off in the morning, they’re not permitted to leave campus.
Randy Jones Autographed Baseball The winning bidder of the "Randy
Jones Autographed Baseball," is requested to contact Belinda Oberle,
PAB president 760-291-1422.
Attention ECHS Pardners:
If you missed the great Western Roundup we had last month, there is still
an opportunity to get something great and support your school. Please
check the PAB section at the bottom left side of the school’s website
(www.echs.org) for remaining items available for purchase.
HURRY!

Heritage Education Foundation Golf Tournament. The tournament will be
held on Thursday, October 26 at Maderas Golf Club in Poway. Registration

us fired up for ECHS Sports! Check it out!
