Escondido Charter High School

"Education Is Our Business"

CHARTER NOTES
Thursday and Friday, January 25 to January 26, 2007

Week 3

Attention Students (TCP):
Please see Ms. Escalona in the office if you did not receive an academic pin or the correct pin during the assembly. All students who earned a 3.5 or higher should have received an academic pin. The deadline to pick up your pin is Monday, January 29.

Spirit Week (TCP):
Attention students, there have been severe problems with the construction of the gym. These complications have left the workers discouraged and disappointed. The school is asking your help to boost their morale so that they will be able to begin the daunting task once again. To show your support for the construction team, your enthusiasm should be at its highest this week.

Thursday: Liquid Day
Friday: Freshmen: Reptiles
Sophomores: Birds
Juniors: Fish
Seniors: Mammals (except humans)

Your help in the lifting the workers' spirits is critical if the gym is to be completed. Thank you.

Support the ECHS Cheerleading team!
This Thursday, January 25, head to Rubio’s on E. Valley Pkwy for dinner between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.. Rubio’s will donate 20% of the profits to the ECHS cheerleaders. Make sure you bring a flier which can be obtained from Ms. Wood in the main office.

Checkers:
Understandably, when many of you think of the game checkers your mind is filled with thoughts of old men sitting in parks spending hours calculating the strategic moves necessary to win the game. However, this Friday the students of Escondido Charter High School will be offered the chance to transform this game of tedious, colorless, painful, near morbid monotony to one of the most intense, hair-raising games this school has seen. The White Tigers should meet during lunch at the clock tower this Friday to display their bold tactics, agile bodies, and rancorous spirits. Only the most cutthroat of competitors should compete as this game is bound to be one of the most intense games this school has seen. Prepare to decimate your opposition.

Seniors:
If you haven’t ordered your cap and gown for graduation yet, your time is running short. Please see Ms. Escalona in the TCP office for an order form by February 2.

Lunch Menu:
The Snack & Deli introduces a “Hot Meal” dish for your enjoyment. The “Hot Meal” will be offered once every other week beginning February 2. Please find the menu and sign-up sheet in the Student Union. Don’t forget to reserve and pre-pay for your meal on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Spring Break Service Trip:
Last year during Spring Break a group of 13 students and adults traveled to Mexico to serve at an orphanage. Last Thanksgiving break we went again. This time bringing 23 people. And now we’re going back! Join us on our third adventure into Mexico this Spring Break. Stop by room G-105 and see Mr. Armentano for more information.

All Students Note:
Although chewing gum is allowed on campus, it may not be chewed inside any office, classroom, or the Library. Please deposit your gum in a trash can before entering these areas.

Leadership Development Opportunity:
All juniors interested in developing their leadership skills are invited to apply for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA). Two juniors from ECHS will be selected to attend the 2007 RYLA Conference. The all-expenses paid leadership training program will be held in Idyllwild Pines from April 20 -April 22. Take advantage of this opportunity to interact with community leaders and other outstanding juniors from San Diego County. See Mr. Grady as soon as possible for details. Completed applications and a short essay are due no later than Friday, February 2.
