Monday thru Thursday, February 5 to February 8, 2007

Week 5

ISPE (TCP):
ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Wednesday. All ISPE logs, essays, and contracts should be placed in the basket in the Library!

Lincoln’s Birthday:
School will be closed on Friday, February 9 in observance of Lincoln’s Birthday Holiday. Enjoy the long weekend.

Senior Exhibition:
All seniors should have submitted the final draft of their resume to their mentor last Friday (2/3). Seniors are advised to begin working on their presentation outline, due March 3, and personal story section of the portfolio, due March 17. See your mentor for details.

Attention Seniors:
The vote for Grad Night was close. Disneyland was the winner!! Stay tuned for more details. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Oberle at boberle@cox.net.

To All Parents:
WE NEED YOU! The 2007 PAB/Athletic Fundraiser is September 29, 2007. Committees are being formed, and we are looking to involve as many parents as possible. All levels of commitment are available. Anyone interested in helping or anyone who has fundraising expertise is invited to e-mail Pati Navarro at navarrofive@cox.net by February 21.

Board of Directors:
The ECHS Board of Directors will have an opening for a Community-member/Parent-member, beginning April 2007. The Escondido Charter High School Board of Directors is now actively seeking to fill this position. Interviews will be conducted during the March 21 meeting. The selected applicant will be sworn in during the April 18 Board Meeting. If you are interested in this position, please see Patti Escalona/Traditional Classroom Program or Lora Dann/Executive Secretary for an application. The deadline to turn in the application is March 12, 2007.

Bowling:
This Valentine's Day, you'll surely want to strike your special someone's heart. To do so, come and participate in a bowling night held February 16 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at AMF Eagle bowling lanes in San Marcos. To attend this opportunity to bowl away your love, be sure to stop by the front of the library during lunch where tickets will be on sale for $5 from February 1 through the February 8. Make sure to attend as you don't want to leave your love in the gutter. Along with the sale of tickets for the event, candygrams will be available for $1.These will be delivered to the first period class of your sweetheart on February 14. Make sure to buy your tickets and candygrams early as they will not be sold after February 8.

Airband:
Everyone should begin to practice their strumming, drumming and humming as the annual airband competition is soon approaching. This year's musical challenge will take place on March 2 during lunch. If you and 3 or 4 other talented friends would like to participate, please sign up by February 20 in Mr. Takagi's room. Auditions to screen for appropriateness will take place on the 21 through 23. The best of luck to all the talented students who participate.

Job Announcement:
The CEO of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce is looking for a responsible, hard-working junior or senor to fill a temporary part-time position. The job entails numerous secretarial duties, including typing, filing, and answering phone calls. Applicants must be familiar with the Microsoft Office applications. Interested students should speak with Mr. Roner during lunch. The deadline to apply is Thursday, February 8.

Seniors!
Senior class sweatshirts will be sold for the low price of $35.00 beginning Wednesday, February 7. A table will be set up in front of the library and orders will be taken for a limited time only. Proceeds from the sale of the sweatshirts go toward the prom. For more information, see Trisha Frulla or Salome Dominguez. Be part of the fun and order your sweatshirt now!

It’s Prom Time!
Seniors and juniors, come join the Prom Committee in Mrs. Soule’s room (C102) every Thursday at 12:30 p.m.

NHS:
The next all-member meeting will be Tuesday, February 6, at 12:30 p.m.

NHS Applicants:
Deadline for applications is 1:00 pm on February 15. Early applications are welcomed. Late applications are not accepted.

Relay for Life:
You can contribute to the fight against cancer! Relay for Life is an annual event in which teams raise money for the American Cancer Society, then participate in a 24-hour event which brings people together for this cause. See Ms. Rittenhouse, Claire Brooks, or Caleb Stanton for more information about how you can participate.

Girls’ Softball Team:
There will be an informational meeting for all girls interesting in playing softball on Monday, February 12, at 6:30 p.m. in room C-201 (Mr. Brose’s classroom). Please bring your parents and get all the important information on the upcoming softball season. Contact Mr. Brose (athletic director) or Coach Jesse Cazares for more information. Go White Tiger softball!

Golf Team:
There will be a season kick-off meeting for all students interested playing on the golf team on Wednesday, February 7 at 3:00 p.m. in room G104. We will take sizes for shirts and caps, discuss the schedule and explain the criteria for varsity tryouts. All golfers must attend. Go White Tiger golfers!

Roller Hockey
Team Information Meeting: Monday, February 12, 6:30 p.m., ECHS library. We will be discussing all the important information for the upcoming 2007 season, so bring your parents and join us! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Kim Zarro @ 760-751-1552. Go ECHS White Tiger roller hockey!
