ISPE (TCP):
ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Wednesday. All ISPE
logs, essays, and contracts should be placed in the basket in the Library!
Senior Exhibition:
Seniors are advised to begin working on their presentation outline, due
February 23, and personal story section of the portfolio, due March 9.
See your mentor for details.
To All Parents:
WE NEED YOU! The 2007 PAB/Athletic Fundraiser is September 29, 2007. Committees
are being formed, and we are looking to involve as many parents as possible.
All levels of commitment are available. Anyone interested in helping or
anyone who has fundraising expertise is invited to e-mail Patti Navarro
at navarrofive@cox.net by February 21.
Board of Directors:
The ECHS Board of Directors will have an opening for a Community-member/Parent-member,
beginning April 2007. The Escondido Charter High School Board of Directors
is now actively seeking to fill this position. Interviews will be conducted
during the March 21 meeting. The selected applicant will be sworn in during
the April 18 Board Meeting. If you are interested in this position, please
see Ms. Escalona/Traditional Classroom Program or Lora Dann/Executive
Secretary for an application. The deadline to turn in the application
is March 12, 2007.
Teen Awareness Academy:
The Escondido Police Department will host a Teen Police Awareness Academy
beginning Wednesday, February 21. The purpose of the seven-week academy
is to provide high school students who have an interest in law enforcement
with the opportunity to learn more about the different facets of law enforcement,
including patrol theory and method, crime scene investigation, drugs and
alcohol enforcement, SWAT and K-9 units, gangs and graffiti, and ethics
and Explorer Programs. Because space is limited, students must complete
an application, be interviewed, and complete a background check. To be
eligible for the program, students must also have at least a 3.0 and be
in good academic standing. Interested students can pick up an application
from Mr. Galindo in the Main Office.
Bowling:
This Valentine's Day, you'll surely want to strike your special someone's
heart. To do so, come and participate in a bowling night held February
16 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at AMF Eagle bowling lanes in San
Marcos. To attend this opportunity to bowl away your love, be sure to
stop by the front of the library during lunch where tickets will be on
sale for $5 from February 1 through the February 8. Make sure to attend
as you don't want to leave your love in the gutter. Along with the sale
of tickets for the event, candy grams will be available for $1.These will
be delivered to the first period class of your sweetheart on February
14. Make sure to buy your tickets and candy grams early as they will not
be sold after February 8.
New Scholarship postings:
Please stop by the college bulletin board in the library for new scholarship
information. Categories include good driving, medical related fields,
San Diego County good citizenship, Republican women, women in the construction
field, North County Times student of merit, and many others. Please see
Mr. Grady for more details.
Summer Research Opportunity:
Do research this summer on a university campus through the UC Davis Young
Scholars Program. Research opportunities are available in the biological
and natural sciences for current juniors and sophomores. Each student
will work as part of a research team on an individual research project
aligned with their scientific interests. An informational meeting will
take place at the San Diego County Office of Education on Tuesday, February

San Diego National College Fair:
Mark your calendars now for the San Diego National College Fair. The fair
will be held at the San Diego Convention Center on Wednesday, April 18.
Further information will be posted in the near future.

Job Announcement:
The CEO of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce is looking for a responsible,
hard-working junior or senor to fill a temporary part-time position. The
job entails numerous secretarial duties, including typing, filing, and
answering phone calls. Applicants must be familiar with the Microsoft
Office applications. Interested students must submit a resume to Ms. Escalona
in the TCP administrative office by Thursday, February 15.
WASC Visit:
A team representing the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
will visit ECHS on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, February 26-28. In
order to evaluate ECHS for accreditation, the team will visit classrooms
and meet with staff, students, and parents. The committee’s findings
will be reported to the ECHS community on Wednesday, February 28 at 3:00
p.m. in the library.
NHS:
The NHS Valentine’s Day project will be carried out tomorrow (Tuesday).
Please bring your contribution to F-203 by 3 pm Tuesday.
NHS Applicants:
Deadline for applications is 1:00 pm on February 15. Early applications
are welcomed. Late applications are not accepted.
CSF:
CSF will not hold a meeting this week. See you next week!
Girls’ Softball Team:
There will be an informational meeting for all girls interesting in playing
softball tonight, February 12, at 6:30 p.m. in room C-201 (Mr. Brose’s
classroom). Please bring your parents and get all the important information
on the upcoming softball season. Contact Mr. Brose (athletic director)
or Coach Jesse Cazares for more information. Go White Tiger softball!
Roller Hockey Team Information Meeting:
There will be an informational meeting for all students interested in
playing roller hockey tonight, February 12, at 6:30 p.m., in the library.
We will be discussing all the important information for the upcoming 2007
season, so bring your parents and join us! If you have any questions,

Travel to Japan:
Rev. David Spurdle of Spurdle Ministries is looking for interested students
who would like to travel to Japan and assist with “church planting”
and ministries from March 30-April 8, 2007. Participants will experience
Japan’s historical heritage while interacting with “locals.”
The cost will be $2995, which includes lodging, food, air travel, bus
