Thursday and Friday, April 12 to April 13, 2007

Week 13


Modified Schedule:
Today, April 12, is a modified day with student dismissal at 1:55 p.m.
Note: The teacher in-service will begin at 2:05 p.m. in the library. The modified schedule for today is attached. All teachers are requested to ensure blended students are informed of the schedule change.

Registration for 2007/2008 School Year (TCP):
All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are reminded that your completed registration packets were due Friday, March 30. Students who do not return the registration packet will not be enrolled in TCP for the 2007/2008 school year.

Assembly:
There will be an assembly for all TCP students on Monday, April 16, at 2:00 p.m., on the Commons. ECHS has invited a motivational speaker to share his inspirational story. Please refer to the attached schedule. Note: Student dismissal will be at 2:55 p.m.

STAR Testing (TCP):
California STAR testing for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will take place from Monday, April 23 through Thursday, April 26. The STAR consists of a series of exams in English, mathematics, social science, and science called the California Standards Tests (CST). TCP students will test in their first period classroom from 8:05 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. Students will then attend classes according to a modified bell schedule with dismissal at 2:55 p.m.
Note: The library will be closed for STAR testing the week of April 16. The Student Union will also be closed, except during lunch (12:25 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.). TCP students are to report to room D202 for study hall.

Arts Festival:
ECHS will host its annual Spring Arts Festival on Saturday, April 21, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Commons. The Arts Festival features students from ECHS performing dance, music, art, and drama. Tickets will be sold at the door for $6 for adults and $5 for students.

San Diego National College Fair:
Students and parents are highly encouraged to attend the San Diego National College Fair on Wednesday, April 18 at the San Diego Convention Center from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admissions representatives from over 200 colleges and universities will be present to provide information and answer questions. For more information, including a list of participating colleges and universities, visit www.nacacnet.org/fairs.

San Diego County College Expo:
Students and parents are invited to attend the San Diego County College Expo, a day filled with practical tips and information on how to prepare for college. Representatives from community colleges and four year colleges and universities will be on hand to provide expert advice about the college search and preparation process. The event will be held on Saturday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Point Loma Nazarene University. Visit www.collegeexpo.org for more detailed information.


AP Exams:
All students who registered for an AP Exam are reminded the balance payment of $70 is due no later than Friday, April 20. Bring payment, cash (exact change) or check made payable to ECHS, to Mrs. McCrory or Mrs. Endermann in the library. Students who do not pay the balance payment by the deadline will not be permitted to test.
Newspaper: If you like to write, design, draw, layout, interview, advertise, or take photographs maybe you would be interested in being a part of the future ECHS newspaper, The Eye of the Tiger. There will be an informational meeting this Friday, April 13, at lunch, in Mrs. Soule's room C102. Come check it out even if you are not 100% sure you want to be a part of it!

Prom:
007 Prom tickets are on sale for $70 at lunch in front of the library for only two more days (April 12 & 13). This is the last week of ticket sales, so come buy your ticket so you won't miss this night to remember!
Note: All students bringing a guest to prom must have a completed guest pass application signed by an administrator/director of the guest's school (this signature is not required if guest has graduated from high school) and by the students' ECHS director (TCP or ILP) before they can purchase tickets. Guest passes and prom packets for ILP students are available in the front office from Mrs. Brooks. ILP students need to give their completed prom packet to their teacher of record promptly. The price of the ticket is determined by the date when the completed packet is submitted to the ILP teacher.
Staff and Parents: The 2007 Prom Committee of Escondido Charter High School requests the honor of your presence at "Diamonds are Forever" on May 12, 2007 from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM at the Bristol Hotel in downtown San Diego. We need chaperones in order to ensure the success of Prom 2007. Your prompt reply would be most helpful. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Soule at (760) 737-3154 x250 or lsoule@echs.org.
Summer Employment Opportunity: The Wild Animal Park is hosting a job fair on Thursday, April 26 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Westfield North County Shopping Mall. If you are interested in being hired for summer employment at The Wild Animal Park you won’t want to miss this event. Interested students should pick up a flyer with detailed information in the Library or Main Office.

Paid Internship Opportunity:
Gitter & Associates, Inc., a local insurance consulting firm, located on East Valley Parkway, is looking for a hard-working, motivated high school student to assist with clerical work. The job requires 10 hours per week and pays minimum wage. The internship is a great opportunity for students interested in entering the insurance industry or owning a business someday. Relay for Life:
All participants need to turn in the Waiver and Release of Liability to team captains by Monday April 16. Please keep track of time spent raising funds, as it counts as community service.

CSF:
Bring your Medieval Times permission slips and checks to Ms. Rittenhouse by Friday 4/13! The next all-member meeting will be Tuesday, April 17, at 12:30.

Stuck for a Buck:
Come out at lunch today and bring your $$ to get your favorite teacher (from among those available) Stuck for a Buck!

NHS:
Graduating members must turn in forms for graduation stoles by April 24.

Baseball:
