"Education Is Our Business"
CHARTER NOTES
Thursday and Friday, April 19 to April 20, 2007
Week 14
STAR Testing (TCP):
California STAR testing for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will
take place from Monday, April 23 through Thursday, April 26. The STAR
consists of a series of exams in English, mathematics, social science,
and science called the California Standards Tests (CST). TCP students
will test in their first period classroom from 8:05 a.m. to 10:55 a.m.
Students will then attend classes according to a modified bell schedule
with dismissal at 2:55 p.m.
Note: The modified schedule is attached. TCP teachers are reminded to
review the schedule with their Blended students.
Senior Exhibition:
Seniors are reminded that the Senior Exhibition is Friday, April 27. Seniors
will work on their portfolios and presentations during the week of STAR
testing. Students will report to a specific room each day during the testing
period. On Monday, April 23 all seniors are to report to room D202 (library)
at 8:05 a.m.
Note: On Tuesday, April 24, a guest speaker will work with the seniors
to help them prepare their presentations. Students must report to the
library on Tuesday for the presentation breakout session. Students should
have the rough draft of their presentations ready to go by Tuesday!
AP Exams:
All students who registered for an AP Exam are reminded the balance payment
of $70 per exam is due no later than this Friday, April 20. Bring payment,
cash (exact change) or check made payable to ECHS, to Mrs. McCrory or
Mrs. Endermann in the library. Students who do not pay the balance by
the deadline will not be permitted to test.
Arts Festival: ECHS will host its annual Spring Arts Festival on Saturday,
April 21, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Commons. The Arts Festival
features students from ECHS performing dance, music, art, and drama. Tickets
will be sold at the door for $6 for adults and $5 for students.
007 Prom: Thank you to all students who purchased their tickets during
the prescribed weeks for ticket sales. If there are any students who were
unable to purchase their tickets during these weeks, please contact Mrs.
Childs directly in C100 during this week (April 16-20) in order to purchase
tickets for $70. Come buy your ticket so you won't miss this night to
remember!
Note: ILP students, please continue to give Prom packets to Mrs. Brooks
in the front office during this week rather than contacting Mrs. Childs
directly.
Note: All students bringing a guest to prom must have a completed guest
pass application signed by an administrator or director of the guest's
school (this signature is not required if guest has graduated from high
school) and by the students' ECHS director (TCP or ILP) before they can
purchase tickets. Guest passes and prom packets for ILP students are available
in the front office from Ms. Brooks. ILP students need to give their completed
prom packet to their teacher of record promptly. The price of the ticket
is determined by the date when the completed packet is submitted to the
ILP teacher.
Staff and Parents: The 2007 Prom Committee of Escondido Charter High School
requests the honor of your presence at "Diamonds are Forever"
on May 12, 2007 from 8:00 PM to 1:00 a.m. at the Bristol Hotel in downtown
San Diego. We need chaperones in order to ensure the success of Prom 2007.
