Week 17

Community Cleanup:
Don’t forget about this year’s Spring Cleanup along East Valley Parkway. The cleanup will be held on Saturday, May 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Those planning to participate should meet at ECHS no later than 8:45 a.m. This is an excellent community service opportunity for ECHS students. All parents, students, and staff are invited to attend. Cleaning equipment, pizza, and drinks will be provided. See you there!

Prom 007:
“Diamonds are Forever” is this Saturday, May 12, 2007 from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Students and guests must have identification in order to gain admittance. Photographs may be purchased at prom, but students must bring cash or check (payable to HRH Photography) to pay for packages that night. Package A contains four 4x6 and eight wallets ($25), and Package B contains eight 8x10, four 4x6, and 16 wallets ($40). There are also add-on options that are available with the purchase of one of these packages. Students should also remember that self parking is $7 at the hotel. Our Town Performance:
Take a trip to Grovers Corners, New Hampshire in the year 1901. Come and see Our Town written by Thornton Wilder. This spectacular performance by the drama class will take place on May 17, 18, and 19 at 7:30 p.m., with an additional special matinee performance on Saturday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $6.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Do not miss this deeply moving production.

AP Exams:
The 2007 AP Exams will be administered on today, May 10 (English Literature), Friday, May 11 (U.S. History), and Wednesday, May 16 (English Language). Students registered to take an AP Exam are reminded to report to room D202 (upstairs in the library) at 8 a.m. on their assigned testing day. If you have questions, please see your AP teacher or Mrs. McCrory.

San Diego Beauty Academy Senior Open House:
San Diego Beauty Academy, located 13266 Poway Road, is hosting an open house for seniors interested in the field of Cosmetology. The open house will be held on Thursday, May 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Students planning to attend must RSVP. Interested students should pick up a flyer in the library or main office for more detailed information.

Film Festival:
Come one and all to the First Annual ECHS Student Film Festival. The festival will be held Friday, May 18 during lunch and after school from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Room G103. This is an opportunity for everyone to see the best that the Digital Video Class has to offer. Students will present a variety of short films, including comedies and action films. Student work will be judged by three video production professionals who work in the broadcast industry. Don’t miss out!

Yearbook:
Buy your yearbook now for the low price of $65. You don’t want to miss out! Mr. Krause will take orders each day after school in G103. Please make checks payable to “ECHS ASB.”

WANTED!!! All Parents!!!
The 2007 PAB/Athletic second annual “Round Up the Funds” Fundraiser is Saturday, September 29, 2007. Your help is needed in order to make this event the most successful yet! Whether you are willing to serve as a committee chairperson or as a member of a committee, all levels of participation are available. This event is the biggest fundraising event held at ECHS. Proceeds will benefit Athletics, the Cheer and Dance Teams and the PAB. If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact Pati Navarro at roundup@cox.net or by phone at 760-740-5943.

Attention All Seniors:
Grad Night tickets and permission slips for Disneyland will be available during lunch on May 14, 15 and 16. Tickets are $50 each and checks can be made payable to ECHS PAB. Grad Night is May 31 from 9:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., June 1. Any questions, contact Keri Baez at 760-855-2293 or keribz@iwon.com.

Attention Newspaper Staff:
Meetings are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in C101. Please be prompt. Deadlines loom.

Seniors in NHS:
You must turn in a graduation stole request to Ms. Rittenhouse by Friday, May 11 in order to ensure your stole will arrive in time for graduation. Contact Ms. Rittenhouse immediately if you have any questions.

Soak Up Some Culture!
Tickets for the Mainly Mozart concert at the California Center for the Arts are being sold for just $35 each (regularly $45) until May 22. See Ms. Rittenhouse or any member of NHS or CSF for details and to buy tickets.

Cheerleading Tryouts:
Cheerleading Tryouts are being held May 14-16 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on the athletic field and May 18 in the dance room, B-202 beginning at 3:30 p.m. If you are interested in trying out, please see Mrs. Farran or Ms. Wood in the ILP offices for more information and to pick up your try-out paperwork.

Magazine Fundraiser:
Cheerleading is currently hosting an online magazine fundraiser. Magazine subscriptions to over 650 magazines are being offered at up to an 85% discount with the ECHS Cheer Squad.. Baseball:

Softball:
Upcoming games: Wednesday, May 17, ECHS @ Santa Fe Christian, 4:00 p.m. TCP early release time will be 2:00 p.m. Go White Tiger Softball!

Football Spring Training:
Football Spring Training practices will be held from Monday, May 14 through Friday, May 18, and Monday, May 21-Friday, May 25, 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., on the ECHS soccer field. All participants must turn in their athletic handbook paperwork to Coach Rea, in order to participate in these practices. Make sure to arrive by 3:15 p.m. on Monday, May 14! Contact Coach Brose for more information. Go White Tiger football!

Students interested in Cross Country for 2007 season: If you would like to run on our cross country team for the 2007 season, please contact Coach Emily Wisden @ 760-522-0493, or email her @ coachwisdenechs@yahoo.com. Coach Wisden will provide you with a summer work out routine, which will help you get in shape for the upcoming season. Go White Tiger runners!
