Week 3
Independent Study PE (TCP):
ISPE students are reminded that week one logs should be turned into
the library basket by Monday. September 4. Please contact Mr. Brose
if you have any questions.
Note: Although students may record the time they participated in school
sponsored sporting events, practices, etc., credit will not be issued
for completing sports. Athletes involved in school sponsored sports,
must keep track of their exercise time using ISPE logs. Please contact
Mr. Brose if you have questions. Keep working hard!
ASB Assembly:
Reminder! The campaign and election for TCP Class Representatives will
conclude tomorrow, Friday, August 31. TCP candidates will deliver their
campaign speeches at a brief assembly Friday morning. In order to accommodate
the assembly, Friday will be a modified school day. The election will
take place during lunch. Good luck to all the candidates!
Note: The schedule for the ASB assembly is attached. TCP teachers are
reminded to inform Blended students of the schedule change.
Lockers:
Locks and lockers have been assigned to all full-time TCP students.
Remember, students may not exchange lockers, and lockers must be locked
when not attended.
Parking Permits:
All ILP and TCP students parking a car at school must register or re-register
their vehicle and obtain a parking permit prior to September 7. Registration
forms may be picked up at the Main Office. A parking permit will be
issued when the registration form is completed and returned to the Main
Office. After September 7, vehicles without parking permits will be
given one warning and then booted.
Note:
All staff are reminded to re-register their vehicles and obtain a new
parking permit by Friday, September 7.
PSAT:
Escondido Charter High School will administer the PSAT Exam on Wednesday,
October 17. The PSAT is a great warm-up for the SAT Reasoning Test required
for college admission. Registration for juniors will begin on September
4 and be open to sophomores beginning September 10. To register, bring
$12 (cash or check made payable to ECHS) to Mrs. McCrory or Mrs. Endermann
in the library.
“Howdy” Parents:
The Parent Advisory Board / Athletics will hold its annual “Western
Round Up the Funds” fundraiser auction on Saturday, September
29 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and will be available
every day this week, after school from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the
breezeway. Watch for those cowboy hats! Further info will be available
in Charter Notes. You can also contact Dana Staebell, Ticket Sales Chair,
at 760-839-3450.
Parents Needed:
Parent volunteers are needed to help with the September 29 fundraiser
as well as PAB sponsored events throughout the school year. If you have
questions, please contact Frank Rumbawa, PAB president at 760-739-9102.
Employment Opportunity:
Zumiez, a new teen retail store specializing in skate, snow, and surf
clothing located in North County Fair Mall is hiring. Starting wage
is $7.50 per hour plus commission. Interested students should pick up
a flyer in the library or main office for details on how to apply.
CSF:
Time is running out! CSF application time is here again! If you are
at least a sophomore and had good grades last semester, you may be eligible
to join California’s premiere academic/service organization. Applications
are in the library, the front office, and in F-203. NOTE: ALL FORMER
MEMBERS MUST REAPPLY EACH SEMESTER. The absolute deadline for applications
is August 31.
NHS Members:
Get your Town & Country permission slips signed! If you don’t
have one and/or need to schedule your service, please see Ms. Rittenhouse.
Our next NHS meeting will be on Tuesday, September 4, at which we will
distribute information about our first fabulous weekend event!
Community Service Opportunity:
The Escondido Human Society is in need of supplies! ECHS’s NHS
group is conducting a supplies drive. You can help by collecting items
from the wish list (available from Ms. Rittenhouse) from friends, neighbors,
and businesses. Time you spend engaged in obtaining supplies can be
reported as community service. See Ms. Rittenhouse in F-203 for details.
Civil Air Patrol:
Anyone interested in leadership instruction, desert survival training
on weekends, general aviation, real life search and rescue missions,
etc., is encouraged to sign up for the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) flight
here at ECHS. See Mr. Rea in Building A to sign up.
Cross Country Practice Schedule:
The cross country team will complete the following schedule: Monday-
Intervals, Tuesday- Strength training, Wednesday- Off/Cross Training,
Thursday- Hills/Tempo, and Friday- Easy run/Strength training. All practices
are 3:30 PM-5:00 PM, and students will meet in the commons area at school.

Football:
Come and check out our White Tigers in their first football game of
2007! Friday, August 31, ECHS will travel to Midway Baptist to battle
against the Patriots. The JV game will begin at 4:00 p.m., so JV TCP
students will be released from sixth period at 2:00 p.m. The varsity
game will begin at 7:00 p.m., so all varsity team members will need
to be at school by 4:00 p.m. Directions to Midway Baptist are available
on the football page of the school website. Contact Coach Brose if you

Girls’ Basketball:
Calling all ILP and TCP girls! If you are interested in playing on the
2007-2008 girls’ basketball team, come to this important meeting
