Week 5

School Photographs:
TCP students note! School pictures (for yearbook and ID cards) and individual photos (for personal use) will be taken today, September 13 during school. If you would like to purchase individual photos, the order forms (with payment) must be returned before you get your picture taken. Order forms were distributed to first period classes on Friday, September 7. Please note: There is no makeup day.

End of Grading Period (TCP):
Tomorrow, September 14 is the end of the first grading period. Progress reports will be distributed on Wednesday, September 19.

Awards Assembly (TCP):
An assembly to recognize students who earned honor roll status for the second semester of last school year will be held on Friday, September 21 (rescheduled). All students should assemble in the gymnasium at 2:00 p.m. Congratulations to all the honor roll students!
Note: The schedule for the awards assembly is attached.

PSAT:
The PSAT Exam will be administered on Wednesday, October 17. Registration is now open to juniors and sophomores. See Mrs. McCrory or Mrs. Endermann with your $12 payment (cash or check made payable to ECHS) to register. Seats for the PSAT Exam are limited to the first 75 students who register.

Student Employment Opportunity:
The Wrangler BBQ restaurant, located on East Valley Parkway, is looking for a reliable, trustworthy, friendly junior or senior student to fill a part-time cashier position. The position entails a Tuesday and Thursday shift from 4:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. and a Saturday shift from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Starting wage is $8.00/hour. Interested students should contact Mrs. McCrory.

Escondido Police Department Teen Awareness Academy:
If you have a career interest in law enforcement and are between the ages of 14 and 17, consider participating in the Escondido Police Department’s 2007 Teen Awareness Academy. The Academy will be held on Wednesday evenings between September 26 and November 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Participants will be exposed to several facets of the police profession including: patrol theory and method, crime scene investigation, and drug enforcement. Interested students should pick up an information flyer and application in the main office or library.

Class Baskets for Round Up:
Show your class spirit!! Your basket contributions can be left in the Main Office through Friday, 9/21. The winning class will receive an all expense paid catered luncheon from Chipotle’s. This year's themes are: Freshmen -- Pamper Me Basket; Sophomores -- Date Night Basket; Juniors -- Beach Basket; Seniors -- Pet Basket. Questions -- Fliers are available in the Front Office. May the best class win!

Parents Need Fun Too!!
Come join the FUN at the annual “Western Round Up the Funds” fundraiser auction on Saturday, September 29 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Auction items waiting for you are: a Padres’ Skybox for 20 people and 8 Graduation Night seats with one parking spot included. This is just the beginning! There will be auction items in all price ranges. All this fun, food, and a great way to help your student! Tickets are $20 and will be available Monday and Thursday of this week after school from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the table in front of the school. Tickets are also available in the main office. Donations, Donations, Donations:
Donations are still being collected for the PAB/Athletics Fundraiser on September 29. The deadline to donate is Friday, September 21. If you are a business owner or have such things as a time share, sports tickets or amusement park tickets, we would appreciate your donation. Help!
The Decorating Committee needs Western decor for use at the “Round Up” fundraiser. If you would like to let us borrow your items, please drop them off at the Main Office or contact Kim Zarro at 760-751-1552.

All you country music fans:
We would like to have live country music at the auction. If you would like to donate your time, we would be extremely grateful. Contact Kim Zarro at 760-751-1552.

Parents Needed:
Parent volunteers are needed to help with the September 29 fundraiser as well as PAB sponsored events throughout the school year. If you have questions, please contact Frank Rumbawa, PAB president at 760-739-9102.

Attention All Academicians:
It's that time of year again! It's time to flex those frontal lobes and start getting ready for Charter's unchallenged champion of all competitive activities: Academic League! If you are at all interested in matching wits with some of your school's top brains and those of our county's top academic institutions, come to an informational meeting in Mr. Waterhouse's room (C101) this Thursday (9/ 13) at lunch. Acquaintances and rivalries will form and reform; practice schedules and other details about our team will be discussed. (Freshmen: we need you, too!)

School Newspaper:
Interested in writing about current events, pop culture, or school activities? Interested in photography? Want to join the staff of our school newspaper? Come to our first meeting, Friday, September 14 at lunch, in Mr. Waterhouse's room (C101). Heck, it might even look good on your college applications!

Community Service Opportunity:
The Escondido Humane Society is in need of supplies! ECHS’s NHS group is conducting a supplies drive. You can help by collecting items from the wish list (available from Ms. Rittenhouse) from friends, neighbors, and businesses. Time you spend engaged in obtaining supplies can be reported as community service. See Ms. Rittenhouse in F-203 for details.

NHS:
Bring your Humane Society donations to our next meeting on September 18 at 12:30 in F-203.

CSF:
Cast your ballot for CSF officers! All members should have received a ballot, to be put in the box in the library ballot box by 4 pm Monday. The first CSF meeting to be hosted by our new officers will be on Tuesday, September 25 at 12:30 p.m. Watch the Charter Notes for location.

Cross Country Practice Schedule:
The cross country team will complete the following schedule: Monday- Intervals, Tuesday- Strength training, Wednesday- Off/Cross Training, Thursday- Hills/Tempo, and Friday- Easy run/Strength training. All practices are 3:30 PM-5:00 PM, and students will meet in the commons area at school. Saturday, September 15, Mt. Carmel Invitational, 8:30 AM, Mt. Carmel High School. Questions??? ECHS White Tiger football:
This Friday, September 14, our White Tigers will battle against the Foothill Christian Knights, 7:00 PM, at the Junior Seau Complex. Check the website for directions. Girls’ Volleyball:
Our lady White Tiger Volleyballers will travel to Guajome Park today, September 13, for a 3:45 PM match. All TCP girls’ volleyball team members need to be released from their sixth period class at 2:15 PM. Go White Tiger Volleyball!

Boys’ Basketball:
If you are interested in being a part of the 2007-2008 basketball team, come to the important information meeting on tonight, September 13, 6:30 PM, in room C-201. Girls’ Basketball:
