Week 9
ISPE (TCP):
ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Tuesday. All ISPE logs,
essays, and contracts should be placed in the basket in the Library.
Modified Day (TCP):
Wednesday, October 17 is a modified day for TCP teacher professional
development training. Student dismissal is at 2:00 p.m.
Note: The modified bell schedule is attached.
Veteran’s Day Assembly Slideshow:
TCP students, we need your help. Bring photographs of family members
who were/are veterans to your English class. The photographs will be
included in our Veteran’s Day Assembly on November 9, 2007. Students
must submit photographs individually in the bags provided by your English
teachers. Students need to write their name and their English teacher’s
name on each bag, and they must complete a Required Photograph Information
slip for each photograph. Photographs will be returned to you within
one week after submission. Please make submissions to your English teachers
no later than October 19, 2007.
Homecoming:
Homecoming is approaching! The 2007 dance is coming soon - November
3, so it's time to buy tickets. Tickets will be on sale daily at lunch
starting today, October 9. Tickets are $30 during the first week, increasing
to $35 at the end of the lunch period on Friday, October 12. You can
bring a guest, but the guest pass must be submitted and approved prior
to buying the guest's ticket. Make sure to buy your tickets early! When
you buy your ticket, you will be required to sign an agreement acknowledging
that you have read and agree to abide by all ECHS rules during the dance.
Failure to comply with the rules will result in dismissal from the dance
without a refund on the first offense.
Community Cleanup:
Escondido Charter High School is sponsoring a community cleanup along
East Valley Parkway on Saturday, October 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00
p.m. The cleanup is an excellent way for students to complete the four
hours of community service required each semester. Students, parents,
and staff are invited to join us! All supplies will be provided for
cleaning. Free food and drink will be served at 12:00 p.m. See you there!
District College Fair:
A district college fair will be held on Monday, October 22 at the California
Center for the Arts from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Colleges and universities
from across the country will be represented. Counselors will be available
to answer questions about admissions and provide information about their
schools. Students in grades 9-12 are highly encouraged to attend.
Christian College Fair:
A national Christian college fair will be held on Monday, October 15
at Tri-City Christian School in Vista from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Admissions
counselors from Christian colleges from across the country will be available
to answer questions. For more information, visit www.naccap.org or pick
up a flyer in the Library or Main Office.
College Preview Days:
Many California colleges and universities host preview days for prospective
students during the months of October and November. Additionally, many
out of state colleges and universities schedule presentations in San
Diego County. Juniors and seniors are advised to attend these events
to assist with the college planning process. Check out the flyers posted
in the library window or consult individual college and university websites
for more information.
Scholarships:
Five new scholarships are posted on the bulletin board in the library
including The Better Business Bureau Essay Competition open to juniors
and seniors plus, the AXA Achievement, Coca-Cola Scholars, Navy ROTC,
and Scholastic Art and Writing awards open to seniors. Stop by the library
to determine if you meet the criteria to apply for one or more of the
scholarships.
CSU Applications:
California State Universities will accept applications from October
1 – November 30. The on-line application is available at www.csumentor.edu.
Seniors should select the Fall 2008 undergraduate application.
UC Applications:
The University of California campuses will accept applications from
November 1 – November 30. Although you cannot submit an application
until November 1, seniors are encouraged to begin working on the application
now. Visit www.universityofcalifornia.edu/apply to access the Fall 2008
undergraduate application.
TCP & ILP Seniors:
Senior Sweatshirt Design Contest entries are due by 3:00 on Friday,
October 12, 2007. The winner of this contest will receive two free tickets
to prom. TCP seniors should make submissions to Mrs. Childs in C100,
and ILP students should make submissions to Mrs. Brooks in the front
office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Childs via phone

TCP & ILP Juniors & Seniors:
It’s prom time again! If you want to be involved in making Prom
2008 a night to remember, then come join the prom committee every Thursday
at lunch in Mrs. Soule’s room (C102).
Newspaper Staff:
Assignments meeting will be Friday, October 12 at 12:30 p.m. in C101.
CSF:
The next all-member CSF meeting will be Tuesday, October 9 at 12:30
p.m. in F203. If you have not paid your dues, please submit them at
that time.
NHS:
The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 16 at 12:30 p.m. in F203.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes/Academians):
FCA will hold its first official meeting on Wednesday, October 10, in
room B-101 at lunchtime. The meeting will cover introductory topics,
as well as a time to share your ideas for events/activities for the
coming year. Bring your lunches.
Dance Team:
There will be an informational meeting for students interested in joining
the Dance Team on Thursday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Union.
Cross Country Practice Schedule:
The cross country team will complete the following schedule: Monday-
Intervals, Tuesday- Strength training, Wednesday- Off/Cross Training,
Thursday- Hills/Tempo, and Friday- Strength and Conditioning. All practices
are 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m., and students will meet in the commons area
at school. Next meet: Friday, October 11, First Coastal Conference meet,
3:30 p.m., at Guajome Park in Vista. TCP early release time will be

ECHS White Tiger football:
This Saturday, October 13, our White Tigers will travel to Army/Navy
Academy in Carlsbad to battle the Warriors. The JV game will be at 11:30
a.m. JV players need to be at school at 9:00 a.m., as the JV bus will
leave school at 9:30 a.m. The varsity game will begin at 1:00 p.m. Varsity
players need to be at school at 10:30 a.m., as the varsity bus will
leave at 11:00 a.m. Directions to the Army/Navy Academy are located

Wrestling Informational Meeting:
If you are interested in participating on the ECHS wrestling team, plan
to attend the informational meeting on Thursday, October 11 (Please
note date change.) 3:05 p.m. in room C201. Come and hear all the essential
