Week 1
Welcome Back:
Hopefully all students and staff had a happy and restful holiday break.
Now it is time to get back to work, as this will be a very busy semester!

Schedule Changes (TCP):
If you have questions about changes to your second semester schedule,
please see Mrs. McCrory.
NOTE:
Freshmen that were in Mr. Miller’s or Mr. Johnson’s Geography
class are now in Mrs. Lasley’s Health Class (Room F202). Mrs.
Lasley’s 3rd period Health students are now in Mr. Miller’s
Geography class (Room C201) and Mrs. Lasley’s 4th period Health
students are now in Mr. Johnson’s Geography class (Room C201).
Seniors shifted from either Economics to American Government or American
Government to Economics. The Second Semester rosters for these classes
are posted on the applicable classroom doors.
Textbooks (TCP):
All TCP and Blended students are reminded that all of your textbooks
must have your name inside the front cover and have a book cover. Remember,
textbooks are very expensive and must be paid for by the student if
lost or damaged.
Independent Study PE (TCP):
All students who were assigned ISPE for the first semester are also
assigned ISPE for the second semester (unless reassigned to the PE class
or otherwise excused by Mrs. McCrory). New ISPE contracts are required
and must be completed – signed and submitted – by Tuesday,
January 15, 2008. To start the contracts, all freshmen assigned ISPE
should meet with Mr. Brose at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow (January 8) in the
Student Union; all sophomores, juniors, and seniors assigned ISPE should
meet at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday (January 9) in Room F203. Remember, completed
ISPE contracts are due by Tuesday, January 15!
Presidential Campaign Internship:
Rudy Giuliani’s regional campaign office is seeking student interns
to assist with campaign efforts in San Diego County. Students interested
in learning more about presidential politics and the process by which
the president is elected are encouraged to volunteer. Interns must be
available to serve a minimum three hours per week. Interested students
should contact Bryan Watkins at (818) 281-2215 or BryanWatkins@JoinRudy2008.com.
Driver’s Education (TCP):
Driver’s Education for this semester will start on January 24.
The course will be offered each morning during zero periods on Thursday’s
from 7:15am – 8:00am in room C-203. Student’s need to be
at least 15 ½ years of age by May 1, 2008 and you must have and
maintain a 2.5 GPA to be in the class in order to participate. All students
must see Mr. Webber in order to obtain a permission slip. Space is limited
to the first 20 qualified students.
Parents Mark Your Calendars:
The next PAB meeting is on Tuesday, January 29 in the library. This
is one you won’t want to miss! The PAB has invited special guest
speakers who will provide information on financial planning for college.
More details will follow in the near future.
Financial Aid:
Seniors interested in determining eligibility for federal and state
financial aid must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) form. The priority deadline is March 2. The FAFSA must be filed
online and requires a pin number. Visit www.pin.ed.gov to register for
a pin number and www.fafsa.ed.gov to fill out the form online.
Senior Exhibition (TCP):
Seniors are reminded that the Senior Exhibition is rapidly approaching.
Three months of preparation time remain. You should have completed your
post-graduation plan, college essay, college application, and letter
of recommendation for your portfolio and started thinking about your
presentation. Please note that your resume is due to your mentor on
February 1.
CSF:
CSF application time is back! If you had good grades last semester,
you may qualify for the California’s premiere scholastically-based
service club! If you are a past member, you need to reapply for this
semester. Applications are available in the library and in the Main
Office and must be returned to F-203 or the library by Friday, January
19. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
