Week 1
Independent Study PE (TCP):
All students who were assigned ISPE for the first semester are also
assigned ISPE for the second semester (unless reassigned to the PE class
or otherwise excused by Mrs. McCrory). New ISPE contracts are required
and must be completed – signed and submitted – by Tuesday,
January 15, 2008.
Presidential Campaign Internship:
Rudy Giuliani’s regional campaign office is still seeking student
interns to assist with campaign efforts in San Diego County. Students
interested in learning more about presidential politics and the process
by which the president is elected are encouraged to volunteer. Interns
must be available to serve a minimum three hours per week. Interested

Job Opportunity:
I Drive Safely, a company in San Marcos dedicated to providing premium
driver training courses, is seeking high school students to participate
in focus groups that will assist with marketing research efforts. Focus
group participants will provide feedback on course advertising, design,
and accessibility. The job entails approximately 2-4 hours per week
and wage is $10 per hour. Interested students should pick up a flyer
in the library or main office for details on how to apply.
Job Opportunity:
A local businessman is seeking students to distribute flyers advertising
a home auction in Escondido scheduled to take place this weekend. Students
are needed today and/or Friday after school from approximately 3:30
p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Interested students should contact Dave Schmitt at

Driver’s Education (TCP):
Driver’s Education for this semester will start on January 24.
The course will be offered each morning during zero periods on Thursdays
from 7:15 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. in room C-203. Student’s need
to be at least 15 ½ years of age by May 1, 2008 and you must
have and maintain a 2.5 GPA to be in the class in order to participate.
All students must see Mr. Webber in order to obtain a permission slip.
Space is limited to the first 20 qualified students.
For Freshmen Only!
Do you have an encyclopedic knowledge of subjects academic and arcane,
ordinary and outrageous? Do you pride yourself on your video gaming
reflexes? See how you can combine both of these talents by watching
the Academic League exhibition match on the commons this Thursday during
lunch. Each year, Freshman, JV and Varsity teams compete against other
North County high schools for seven Thursday night matches, beginning
on January 31. Practices are held twice weekly on Monday and Thursday
during lunch in Room C101. See Ms. Lansing, Freshman Coach, in Room
C202 for more details. Both introverts and extroverts are welcome!
Parents Mark Your Calendars:
The next PAB meeting is on Tuesday, January 29 in the library. This
is one you won’t want to miss! The PAB has invited special guest
speakers who will provide information on financial planning for college.
More details will follow in the near future.
Financial Aid:
Seniors interested in determining eligibility for federal and state
financial aid must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) form. The priority deadline is March 2. The FAFSA must be filed
online and requires a pin number. Visit www.pin.ed.gov to register for
a pin number and www.fafsa.ed.gov to fill out the form online.
Senior Exhibition (TCP):
Seniors are reminded that the Senior Exhibition is rapidly approaching.
Three months of preparation time remain. You should have completed your
post-graduation plan, college essay, college application, and letter
of recommendation for your portfolio and started thinking about your
presentation. Please note that your resume is due to your mentor on
February 1.
Prom Committee:
Please attend our meeting during lunch today (12:30) in Mrs. Soule’s
room (C102) to continue planning Prom 2008.
Senior Sweatshirts:
The sweatshirts have arrived and all students who preordered have received
their sweatshirts. Any ILP or TCP seniors who did not preorder still
have the opportunity to purchase a sweatshirt from Mrs. Childs (TCP-C100)
or Ms. Brooks in the main office (ILP). We have extra sweatshirts available
in sizes S, M, and L. We have a limited quantity, so come make your
purchase while supplies last.
CSF:
CSF application time is back! If you had good grades last semester,
you may qualify for the California’s premiere scholastically-based
service club! If you are a past member, you need to reapply for this
semester. Applications are available in the library and in the Main
Office and must be returned to F-203 or the library by Friday, January
18. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
