ISPE (TCP):
ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Wednesday. All ISPE
logs and essays should be placed in the basket in the Library.
Board Meeting:
The ECHS Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, January 30 at 5:30
p.m. in the Theater. The meeting will be followed by a lottery for students
interested in attending the ECHS Traditional Classroom Program next
school year. All parents are invited to attend.
Parents Note: If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend
the Heritage K-8 classroom program for grades K through 8 in August
2008, please ensure the student is on the lottery list and is noted
as the sibling of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please pick
up a Heritage K-8 lottery application from the ECHS main office by February
6.
Parents Mark Your Calendars:
The PAB General Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29 at 7:00
p.m. in the Library. The focus of the meeting is “Preparing for
College”. It’s never too late to get started!
RYLA Conference:
Applications to attend the 2008 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
Conference scheduled for Friday, April 11 to Sunday April 13 in Idyllwild
Pines are due no later than Wednesday, January 23 at 3:00 p.m. Completed
applications should be submitted to Mrs. McCrory or Mrs. Endermann in
the library. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to attend an all
expenses paid three day conference designed to build your leadership
skills.
Looking For A Valentine This Valentine’s Day?
Come down and sign up with Mr. Takagi this week to see if you have what
it takes to be a participant on one of ECHS’ most exciting game
shows! Make sure you sign up before Tuesday, January 22.
Community Service Opportunity:
Every Tuesday, a group of students walks to a local senior citizens’
park to do yard work or house work to help the residents. If you have
1 ½ hours on an occasional Tuesday, you could join in and get
community service credit for your service. See Ms. Rittenhouse for a
permission slip if you are interested.
SAT Subject Tests:
University of California campuses and selective private universities
require completion of two SAT Subject Tests as part of the application
process. The two SAT Subject Tests you complete must be in different
academic subject areas. Juniors are advised to take Subject Tests in
May or June and register on-line at www.collegeboard.com. If you need
assistance selecting your subjects or have registration questions, see
Mrs. McCrory.
SAT Prep Class:
If you would like to prepare for the SAT this spring, please sign up
with Mr. Takagi in Room E100 for the SAT Prep Class. The class will
meet on Thursdays from 3:05 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Thursday, January
31. Registration is limited to the first 20 students who sign-up.
Job Opportunity:
The Wild Animal Park is hiring approximately 35 food service clerks.
Interviews will be held at The Wild Animal Park this Thursday, January
24. If you are interested, pick up a flyer in the Library or Main Office
for detailed application instructions.
Relay for Life:
Several teams have now formed for the Relay for Life. If you’d
like to join one of them or form another team, see Ms. Rittenhouse.
This promises to be another year in which Charter students make great
contributions to the American Cancer Society’s important work
Driver’s Education (TCP):
Driver’s Education for this semester will start on Thursday, January
24.
For Freshmen Only!
Do you have an encyclopedic knowledge of subjects academic and arcane,
ordinary and outrageous? Do you pride yourself on your video gaming
reflexes? See how you can combine both of these talents by watching
the Academic League exhibition match on the commons this Thursday during
lunch. Each year, Freshman, JV and Varsity teams compete against other
North County high schools for seven Thursday night matches, beginning
on January 31. Practices are held twice weekly on Monday and Thursday
during lunch in Room C101. See Ms. Lansing, Freshman Coach, in Room
C202 for more details. Both introverts and extroverts are welcome!
