Calling All Seniors !
On Thursday January 31st during lunch time we will
take a SENIOR GROUP PHOTO for yearbook in the GYM. Be there 15 min.
after lunch starts on Thursday if you would like to be in the photo.
If you are not there, you will not be in the photo, there will be no
makup photo.
ISPE (TCP):
ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Tuesday. All ISPE
logs and essays should be placed in the basket in the library.
Board Meeting:
The ECHS Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, January 30 at 5:30
p.m. in the library. The meeting will be followed by a lottery for students
interested in attending the ECHS Traditional Classroom Program next
school year. All parents are invited to attend.
Parents Note: If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend
the Heritage K-8 classroom program for grades K through 8 in August
2008, please ensure the student is on the lottery list and is noted
as the sibling of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please pick
up a Heritage K-8 lottery application from the ECHS main office by February
6.
Awards (TCP):
If you are a student who earned a 3.2 or higher and were absent during
the awards ceremony, please see Ms. Escalona in the office to pick up
your certificate, t-shirt, letter, and/or academic pin.
Parents Mark Your Calendars:
The PAB General Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 29 at 7:00
p.m. in the library. The focus of the meeting is “Preparing for
College”. It’s never too late to get started!
Drama Performance!
Be sure and come to the ECHS Drama Club’s first play in the new
theater, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare. The show will
run January 31, February 1 & 2 at 7:15 pm, with a special Saturday
matinee on February 2 at 2:00 pm. This play will be exciting, both from
a visual as well as a dramatic perspective. Tickets are $8.00 for general
admission, $5.00 for students, and only $3.00 for the Saturday matinee.
You will not want to miss this play.
Seniors (TCP):
Did you order your cap and gown, announcements, or senior ring yet?
Balfour will be on campus at lunch time for the final visit Tuesday,
January 29 in front of the library. All seniors must wear a cap and
gown to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Senior Exhibition (TCP):
Don’t forget, your resume is due to your mentor on Friday, February
1.
Scholarships:
Seven new scholarships for seniors are posted on the bulletin board
in the library. The postings include scholarships from: California Charter
Schools Association, Italian Catholic Federation, Sand Diego County
Citizen’s Foundation, California Special Districts Association
San Diego Chapter, Marine Corps, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Best Buy.
You can only win if you apply!
RYLA Conference:
Interviews for students who applied to attend the RYLA Conference will
be held on Wednesday, January 30 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Applicants should
see Mrs. McCrory for details regarding the interview process.
Job Opportunity:
Mass Connections, a marketing and promotions company, is looking for
high school students ages sixteen and older to work part-time as Consumer
Connectors. Consumer Connectors distribute samples and represent brands
at local stores and promotional events. Hours and locations are flexible
and wage is approximately $85 per event. Pick up a flyer and application
packet in the main office or library for more details.
SAT Prep Class:
The SAT Prep class begins this Thursday, January 31 from 3:05 p.m. to
4:30 p.m. in Mr. Takagi’s Room (E100).
SAT Registration Deadline:
The deadline to register for the March 1 SAT Reasoning Test is Tuesday,
January 29. Visit www.collegeboard.com to register.
Fashion Merchandising:
The Apparel Merchandising and Management Department at Cal Poly Pomona
is hosting three Apparel News and Focus Days in March for high school
students interested in exploring a career and bachelor’s degree
opportunities in the apparel industry. Interested students should see
Mrs. McCrory for details, a flyer, and registration information. All
students must RSVP to attend the event and space is limited.
Relay for Life:
Several teams have now formed for the Relay for Life. If you’d
like to join one of them or form another team, see Ms. Rittenhouse.
This promises to be another year in which Charter students make great
contributions to the American Cancer Society’s important work
For Freshmen Only!
Each year, Freshman, JV and Varsity Academic League teams compete against
other North County high schools for seven Thursday night matches, beginning
on January 31. Practices are held twice weekly on Monday and Thursday
during lunch in Room C101. See Ms. Lansing, Freshman Coach, in Room
C202 for more details. Both introverts and extroverts are welcome!
CSF:
The new CSF membership lists are posted in the main office and library.
Congratulations to our new members! Plan to attend the first meeting
of the new semester on Tuesday, January 29, at 12:30 pm in F-203.
NHS:
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 5 at 12:30 in F203. Come
help us plan the induction ceremony!
