Parents Note:
If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend the Heritage
K-8 classroom program for grades K through 8 in August 2008, please
ensure the student is on the lottery list and is noted as the sibling
of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please pick up a Heritage
K-8 lottery application from the ECHS main office by February 6.
Awards (TCP):
If you are a student who earned a 3.2 or higher and were absent during
the awards ceremony, please see Ms. Escalona in the office to pick up
your certificate, t-shirt, letter, and/or academic pin.
Drama Performance!
Be sure and come to the ECHS Drama Club’s first play in the new
theater, A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare. The show will
run January 31, February 1 and 2 at 7:15 pm, with a special Saturday
matinee on February 2 at 2:00 pm. This play will be exciting, both from
a visual as well as a dramatic perspective. Tickets are $8.00 for general
admission, $5.00 for students, and only $3.00 for the Saturday matinee.
You will not want to miss this play.
Senior Exhibition (TCP):
Don’t forget, your resume is due to your mentor on Friday, February
1.
Senior Picture:
The yearbook staff will take a photograph of the senior class today,
January 31, in front of the gym at 12:40 p.m. (during lunch). All seniors
are invited to participate.
Seniors and Juniors:
The prom committee is pleased to announce that prom will be on May 3,
2008. Tickets may be purchased for $50 each beginning March 3 thru March
14, $60 each beginning March 24 thru April 4, and $70 each beginning
April 7 thru April 18. Guest passes for TCP students are available with
Mrs. Childs (C100) or in the main office, and they must be completed
and approved prior to the purchase of tickets. ILP packets (which include
a guest pass) are also available in the main office, and they must be
completed and given to the teacher of record in order to purchase tickets.
Students should complete guest passes as soon as possible so they can
take advantage of the cheaper price for the prom tickets.
Yearbook Dedications and Advertisements:
The deadline for senior dedications and/or advertisements in the Yearbook
is February 15. Students can pick up dedication form in the main office.
Yearbooks are on sale for $65; students can pick up an order from the
main office. Please return the dedications and the order forms to the
main office.
Scholarships:
Seven new scholarships for seniors are posted on the bulletin board
in the library. The postings include scholarships from: California Charter
Schools Association, Italian Catholic Federation, Sand Diego County
Citizen’s Foundation, California Special Districts Association
San Diego Chapter, Marine Corps, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Best Buy.
You can only win if you apply!
Come join us!
There is a new club starting up, Teenage Republicans, and it will meet
every other Friday at lunch in room C201. The first meeting will be
held on February 1. The California primary is around the corner, and
it’s a perfect time to come to our first meeting. Contact Elyse
Bobczynski for more info or just show up this Friday. See you there.
College Planning Event:
University of the Pacific (UOP) School of Business is hosting an information
session in San Diego on February 4 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the
Marriott La Jolla. Students interested in exploring a highly ranked
undergraduate business program are encouraged to attend. Reserve a seat
online at www.go.pacific.edu/bizroadshow.
SAT Prep Class:
The SAT Prep class begins this Thursday, January 31 from 3:05 p.m. to
4:30 p.m. in Mr. Takagi’s Room (E100).
Relay for Life:
Several teams have now formed for the Relay for Life. If you’d
like to join one of them or form another team, see Ms. Rittenhouse.
This promises to be another year in which Charter students make great
contributions to the American Cancer Society’s important work
Prom Committee:
Due to the Senior Photo, prom committee will not meet during lunch today
(1/31). All members please join us for our regular weekly meeting next
week on Thursday, February 7, in Mrs. Soule’s room (C102) at lunch.
NHS:
Current members need to attend the meeting next Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 12:30
p.m. in F203 to get information on the upcoming induction ceremony.
Also, the Town and Country crew needs volunteers. Do you have your hours
of community service? Would you like to help with the Town & Country
Valentines’ Day event?
NHS Applicants:
Complete applications are due February 14 at 3:00 p.m. No late applications
will be accepted. Early applications are welcomed. Good luck!
CSF:
Dues of $5 for all members will be collected at the next meeting, February
12. Upcoming fundraisers and fun events will be discussed.
Fun Zone:
Friday, February 15, 4-9 p.m., ECHS Gym/Theatre, Sponsored by the ECHS
Softball Team. This event is for kids in grades K-6. Cost: $25.00 before
February 10, and $30.00 after February 10. Be ready for an action packed
night of fun, food, games, movies, face painting, and other activities.
