Week 9
ISPE (TCP):
ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Tuesday. All ISPE logs
and essays should be placed in the basket in the library.
Senior Exhibition (TCP):
The personal story section of your portfolio is due on March 7. See your
mentor for details.
Freshmen Note (TCP):
ECHS will conduct physical fitness testing for all freshmen during the
week of March 3. Because physical fitness testing is required by the State
of California, all ECHS freshmen are required to participate in the assessment.
TCP students will be tested after school from 3:05 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. TCP
students have been assigned a specific testing day according to the first
letter of their last name as scheduled below:
Monday A-D Tuesday E-J
Wednesday K-Q Thursday R-Z
Friday Make-Up Day
Parents Note:
If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend the Heritage
K-8 classroom program for grades K through 8 in August 2008, please ensure
the student’s name is on the lottery list and is noted as the sibling
of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please pick up a Heritage
K-8 lottery application from the ECHS main office by March 6.
AP Exams (TCP):
The $13 deposit per AP Exam is due no later than this Friday, March 7.
Bring your payment, cash (exact change) or check made payable to ECHS,
to your AP teacher. Exams will only be ordered for those students who
submit the deposit by the deadline.
Palomar Assessment Tests:
Assessment testing for Palomar College is scheduled for Wednesday, March
5 at 8:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. Seniors who registered for a testing
session are reminded to report promptly at their assigned time to room
D202 and bring a calculator.
ACT Exam:
Friday, March 7 is the deadline to register for the April 12 ACT Exam.
Remember to register for the ACT with Writing as many colleges require
the optional writing component.
Biotechnology Internship:
Several local biotechnology companies are sponsoring a Life Sciences Summer
Institute designed to expose high school students to career options in
the industry plus, provide hands-on laboratory experience and mentoring
by a company or research scientist. Participants attend a five day training
camp and then begin a paid internship at a life science company or research
institute. See Mrs. McCrory for details and applications.
SDSU Open House:
San Diego State University is hosting an open house event for prospective
students on Saturday, March 15. If you are considering attending SDSU
or want to apply in the future don’t miss this opportunity to take
a tour, receive in depth information about majors, and preview campus

Employment Opportunity:
The San Diego Wild Animal Park is hosting a job fair for Food Service
Clerks on Thursday, March 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pick up a flyer
in the library or main office for application and interview details.
Rubio’s Fundraiser #2:
The last Thursday fundraiser was a great success, and now we’re
doing it again! Come to Rubio’s this Thursday, March 6, between
3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and 20% of your purchase amount will be donated
to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Flyers are available
in the office, library, and F-203.
Seniors and Juniors:
Starting today, March 3, through March 14, you may purchase your prom
tickets for $50 each. If you are bringing a guest, you must have a completed
guest pass prior to purchasing your guest’s ticket. TCP students
may purchase tickets from Mrs. Childs every day after school in C100,
but tickets will also be available at lunch Wednesday through Friday during
the weeks of ticket sales. ILP students may submit their packets to their
teachers of record in order to purchase tickets. Tickets will be available
March 3 to 14 for $50.00 each, March 24 to April 4 for $60.00 each, and
April 7 to April 18 for $70.00 each. Please make checks payable to ECHS
ASB.
Seniors:
It is not too late to get your senior sweatshirt! Please stop by Mrs.
Childs’ room (C100) any day after school or the Prom table at lunch
Wednesday through Friday to purchase your sweatshirt for $35.
CSF:
The next CSF meeting is this Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
Relay for Life:
The meeting for all captains of youth teams is this Thursday, March 6,
at 5:00 p.m. at Rubio’s. Bring your chaperones! Youth guidelines
will be explained at packets handed out.
Prom Committee:
Please join us for our weekly meeting on Thursday in Mrs. Soule’s
room at lunch as we make final decoration decisions and music selections.
Spaghetti Dinner:
Support the boy’s baseball team by participating in this year’s
spaghetti dinner/fundraiser on Wednesday, March 5, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30
p.m., in the Student union. The cost is $10 per person, and $30 per family.
Come and enjoy an evening of food and fun! Go White Tigers!
Baseball:
Next Varsity games: Tuesday, March 4, ECHS vs. Tri-City Christian, 3:15
p.m., Mira Costa Community College. TCP early release time: 2:00 p.m.
Friday, March 7, the boys baseball team will travel to Winterhaven, Arizona
for a weekend tournament. All members of the varsity baseball team will
be absent from school on Friday, March 7, but they are still responsible
for turning in their assignments on Monday, March 10. Go White Tigers!!!
Softball:

Soccer News:
Girl’s: Congratulations on the following girls who were selected
to the Coastal Conference North All-League Teams: First Team- Elyse Bobcynski
and Chantea Barros. Second Team- Amy Rawson and Ashley Johnson. Honorable
mention- Taryn Flaherty and Monica Navarro. Girls Soccer Banquet will
be Friday, March 7. Check with Coach Torres on the time. Boys: Congratulations
to the following boys who were selected to the Coastal Conference North
All-League Teams: First Team- Jeremiah Martinez and Yanni Damianos. Second
Team: Alexander Aram and Tyler Sparks. The boy’s soccer banquet
will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., in the Student
Union. Contact Coach Cheney for more information on the banquet. Go White
