Senior Exhibition (TCP):
The personal story section of your portfolio is due March 7. See your mentor for details.

Freshmen Note (TCP):
ECHS will conduct physical fitness testing for all freshmen during the week of March 3. Because physical fitness testing is required by the State of California, all ECHS freshmen are required to participate in the assessment. TCP students will be tested after school from 3:05 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. TCP students have been assigned a specific testing day according to the first letter of their last name as scheduled below:

Parents Note:
If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend the Heritage K-8 classroom program for grades K through 8 in August 2008, please ensure the student’s name is on the lottery list and is noted as the sibling of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please pick up a Heritage K-8 lottery application from the ECHS main office by March 6.

AP Exams (TCP):
The $13 deposit per AP Exam is due no later than this Friday, March 7. Bring payment, cash (exact change) or check made payable to ECHS, to your AP teacher. Exams will only be ordered for those students who submit the deposit by the deadline.

Pre-spring cleaning:
This weekend, one of ECHS’ fabulous Relay for Life teams is hosting a rummage sale. Do you have any rummage to donate? Bring your gently used good to Ms. Rittenhouse’s room on Friday. Thanks!

Police Teen Awareness Academy:
The Escondido Police Department is hosting a Teen Awareness Academy designed to introduce high school students to the roles and functions of a police officer. Students interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement are encouraged to apply. The class will meet on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. beginning March 26. See Mr. Galindo in the main office for an application. Completed applications are due March 19.

Service Academy and ROTC Information Night:
San Diego’s annual Service Academy and ROTC Information Night will be held on Thursday, March 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Northrop Grumman in Rancho Bernardo. Students in grades 9-11 interested in attending a military academy or college ROTC program should attend this event. Admissions counselors from all five service academies and many college ROTC programs will be present to provide valuable information and answer questions. Pick up a flyer in the library or main office for more details.

Biotechnology Internship:
Applications for the Life Sciences Summer Institute, designed to expose high school students to career options in the industry plus, provide hands-on laboratory experience and mentoring by a company or research scientist, are available from Mrs. McCrory. Applications must be postmarked by March 31.

SDSU Open House:
San Diego State University is hosting an open house event for prospective students on Saturday, March 15. Prospective and future students are invited to attend. Visit www.sdsu.edu/exploresdsu for more information and to RSVP.

March Movie Event:
Get ready, get set, and go to the AGEA hosted March Movie Event. The American Spirit Theater is featuring the award winning movie Spirited Away, directed by the famous Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. You’ll be sure to enjoy the captivating story, heart warming characters, and wonderful animation. The movie will be shown on Friday, March 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, and friends and family are welcome to come.


Rubio’s Fundraiser #2:
The last Thursday fundraiser was a great success, and now we’re doing it again! Come to Rubio’s today, March 6, between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and 20% of your purchase amount will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Flyers are available in the office, library, and F-203.

Seniors and Juniors:
Prom tickets are available today and tomorrow at lunch for $50 each. If you are bringing a guest, you must have a completed guest pass prior to purchasing your guest’s ticket. TCP students may also purchase tickets from Mrs. Childs every day after school in C100. ILP students may submit their packets to their teachers of record in order to purchase tickets. Tickets will be available March 3 to 14 for $50.00 each, March 24 to April 4 for $60.00 each, and April 7 to 18 for $70.00 each. Please make checks payable to ECHS ASB.

Seniors:
It is not too late to get your senior sweatshirt! Please stop by Mrs. Childs’ room (C100) any day after school or the Prom table at lunch Wednesday through Friday to purchase your sweatshirt for $35.

CSF:
The next CSF meeting is this Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.

Relay for Life:
The meeting for all captains of youth teams is this Thursday, March 6, at 5:00 p.m. at Rubio’s. Bring your chaperones! Youth guidelines will be explained at packets handed out.

Prom Committee:
Please join us for our weekly meeting on Thursday in Mrs. Soule’s room at lunch as we make final decoration decisions and music selections.

Baseball:
Friday, March 7, the boy’s baseball team will travel to Winterhaven, Arizona for a weekend tournament. All members of the varsity baseball team will be absent from school on Friday, March 7, but they are still responsible for turning in their assignments on Monday, March 10. Go White Tigers!!!

Softball:
Next games: Today, March 6, ECHS @ Capistrano Valley, 3:15 p.m. TCP early release time: 1:15 p.m. Friday, March 7, ECHS vs. Calvary Christian, 4:00 p.m., Washington Park. TCP early release time: 2:45 p.m. Go White Tigers!!! Also, the softball team will be selling delicious baked goods after school on the following dates: Monday, March 10, Monday, March 24, and Wednesday, March 26. Bring your money and enjoy some awesome after school snacks, as well as support our Lady White Tigers!

Soccer News:
Girl’s: Congratulations to the following girls who were selected to the Coastal Conference North All-League Teams: First Team- Elyse Bobzcynski and Chantea Barros. Second Team- Amy Rawson and Ashley Johnson. Honorable mention- Taryn Flaherty and Monica Navarro. The Girl’s Soccer Banquet will be Friday, March 7, 6:00 p.m., in the Student Union. Contact Coach Torres for more information. Go White Tigers!!!

Golf Practices:
This week’s schedule: Today, March 6, ECHS vs. Army/Navy, 3:00 p.m., El Camino Country Club. TCP early release time: 2:00 p.m. Go White Tigers!!!

Cheer Tryout Clinic:
Students interested in trying out for the 2008-2009 ECHS White Tiger cheerleading team should come to the cheer leading clinic on the following dates: Thursday, March 6, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., and Wednesday, March 12, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Questions?
