11, 2009 School Photographs (TCP): TCP students note! School pictures (for yearbook and ID cards) and individual photos (for personal use) will be taken Thursday, September 10, during school. If you would like to purchase individual photos, the order forms (with payment) must be returned on Thursday, before you get your picture taken. Order forms were distributed to first period classes last Friday. Please note: There is no makeup day. Patriot Day Assembly: The Patriot Day assembly planned for this Friday, September 11, will be held during SSR (third period) rather than after sixth period. Third period teachers will escort their class to the theater after attendance has been taken. Therefore, please disregard Friday’s modified schedule. Friday will be a normal bell schedule. PSAT Registration: The 2009 PSAT will be held on Wednesday, October 14. Registration is limited to the first 100 students who sign up. Juniors have priority registration from August 31 – September 11. Registration will be open to sophomores beginning September 14. To register, bring your $13 payment, cash (exact change) or check made payable to ECHS, to Mrs. McCrory or Mrs. Endermann in the Library. SAT Registration: The deadline to register for the October 10 SAT and SAT Subject Tests is next Wednesday, September 9. Visit www.collegeboard.com to register and select your test center location. Seniors must have all standardized tests required for admission completed no later than December. ACT Registration: The deadline to register for the October 24 ACT Test is Friday, September 18. Register and select your test center location online at www.actstudent.org. Attention All Students: Are you good with words and do you like to compete? If you are interested in becoming a member of ECHS's first Scrabble team to compete at the Escondido Scrabble-Thon against other local high schools, then come to an informational meeting on Thursday at lunch in D202 (Mrs. Childs' room above the library). If you are unable to attend but want to participate in the team, please see or contact Mrs. Childs by e-mail (kchilds@echs.org) before the end of this week. Alumni-Staff Play! Come to the 2009 Alumni-Staff Play! On September 11 and 12, at 7:00 p.m., the ECHS Alumni Association and ECHS faculty are performing "The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940". Entrance fee is only $5.00 a person! Come watch your teachers and former classmates in this murder-mystery parody! The event is a fundraiser for the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. For more information, see Mr. Panlasigui or Mr. Endermann. See you at the play! Les Miserables: Broadway Theatre Arts Academy proudly presents Les Miserables. Performances will take place on September 3, 4, and 5, and September 10, 11, and 12, at 8:00 p.m. at Kit Carson Park Amphitheatre. Come see Escondido Charter High School graduates and students shine on stage. See the flyers posted in the display cases for more details. Guest Presentation: The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) will be giving two different presentations in the theater on September 15. The 5th period “Discover Your Creative Abilities” seminar will explore right and left brain thinking and seeing. Through visual exercises you will learn to see creatively and understand your innate creative abilities. The 6th period “Design and the Entertainment Industry” seminar explores the role of design in the entertainment industry and various related careers. See Mrs. McCrory to sign up for these presentations no later than September 11. Recycle: Please dispose of your bottles and cans in the blue recycling bins located throughout the campus. Marine Science Club: Attention surfers, beach bums and all those interested
in the ocean! Come to the first ever Marine Science Club meeting Thursday,
September 10, at lunch in Room F104. We'll discuss possible field trips,
ways to earn your community service hours, hot topics in marine biology,
and other benefits available to members. If you cannot make the club meeting,
but are interested in participating in a Marine Science Academic League
style tournament, please come to an informational meeting to help form
Charter's first National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) team Monday, September
14, after school in Room F104. NHS: All members should attend this week’s meeting at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, in F203. CSF: CSF needs officers! If you’d like to serve as an officer for CSF this year, please submit a paragraph stating your qualifications to Mrs. Rea (srea@echs.org) by Tuesday at 8 p.m. Voting for CSF officers will take place in the library on Thursday and Friday, September 10 and 11.
