Week 15



End of Third Grading Period (TCP): Friday, November 13, marked the end of the third grading period. Progress reports will be handed out before school on Wednesday, November 18. Any progress reports not picked up will be promptly mailed.

Parent Advisory Meeting: ECHS Parent Advisory Board presents Start Smart – a California Highway Patrol Driver Safety Education Presentation for our new and future licensed teenage driver’s ages 15 – 19 and their parents/guardians. All registered parents and students should report to the ECHS library at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17.

Thanksgiving Holiday: ECHS will observe the Thanksgiving Holiday Wednesday, November 25 through Friday, November 27. School will be closed. Enjoy the holiday and the long weekend!


Community Cleanup: Come earn your community service hours and beautify Escondido at the same time! Attend Escondido Charter High School's Community Cleanup on Saturday, December 5, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Food will be provided.

Operation Homefront San Diego: Our military families need assistance during the Thanksgiving holiday, and ECHS would like your help. Our goal is to help needy families by providing the essentials needed for complete meals. We are asking for boxed and canned goods as follows:

Seniors: Boxed potatoes/canned gravy
Juniors: Rolls/pies (Please bring pies on November 19 and 20 only)
Sophomores: Boxed stuffing/canned cranberries/marshmallows
Freshmen: Canned veggies (corn/green beans/yams)
Faculty: Donations to purchase gift certificates for turkeys
Please bring donations to the Main Office. The deadline to donate is November 20.


Humane Society Community Service: If you would like to do 4 hours of community service on a Saturday, and benefit the less fortunate animals in our community, this may be your opportunity. A work day at the Escondido Humane Society has been scheduled for Saturday, December 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Participants must be 16 years old and have a permission slip signed by a parent. See Mrs. Rea for the details and permission slips.

Campbell Soup Labels: Check your cupboards now for Campbell Soup Labels! If we turn in 2500 points between now and December, 31, 2009, Campbell’s will give us an additional 2500 Bonus points for classroom and playground equipment at the Heritage K-8 site.

Ralphs Supports ECHS: Ralphs is committed to supporting ECHS through their Community Contributions Program. Set up your account and register your “Rewards” card number at www.ralphs.com. Each time you shop and use your “Rewards” card, ECHS will benefit!

2nd Annual Heritage Holiday Gift Faire: Shop for the holidays with over 20 crafters and vendors on Thursday, November 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage K-8 Multi-Purpose Room. Proceeds will benefit Heritage K-8 classrooms. Contact Marcy Colwell at sparklegal@cox.net for more information.

Saxon Day (TCP)! Charter’s eleventh annual celebration of math and John Saxon, author of math books, is almost here! Tuesday, November 24, is Saxon Day; so it’s time to start preparing your math- or Saxon-related skits, songs, and performances! Individual acts should be no more than 5 minutes in length, and keep it Charter appropriate. All acts will be screened ahead of time. Talk to your math teacher for more details, and sign up your acts with Mr. Endermann (Room F100) by Friday, November 20. Go Saxon!

NHS: If you missed a meeting, you missed important information about scholarships. Don’t miss the next meeting on Tuesday, November 17, during lunch in F203.

CSF: It’s bake sale time! Bring your baked goodies to Mrs. Rea’s room, or directly to the Parent Advisory Board meeting. All proceeds will go toward scholarships for club members. The next CSF meeting will be on Tuesday, December 1.

Civil Air Patrol: Have you signed up for BCS?

NOSB/Marine Science Club: The Marine Science Club will meet Thursday at lunch in room F104.

All Athletes!! If you played a fall sport and will be playing a winter sport as well, please notify Mrs. Reese in the Front Office so that we can move your Athletic Handbook forms to the new sport. Thank you!
