CHARTER NOTES
Monday thru Wednesday, December 7 to December 9, 2009


Week 18

ISPE (TCP): The ISPE essay (MLA format) must be a minimum of 300 words on the physical, emotional, and mental benefits of exercise, as well as how you improved over the course of the semester. The essay is due by Tuesday, December 8. Contact Mrs. Lasley if you have any questions. ISPE logs are due. Logs will not be accepted after Tuesday. All ISPE logs, essays, and contracts should be placed in the basket in the Library.

PSAT Results: Mrs. McCrory will hold a brief meeting at 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8 in Room D201 to distribute results. Students in attendance will receive their results plus, information about how to interpret and utilize their results. Students unable to attend the meeting can pick up their results in the library beginning Monday, December 14.

Christmas Concert: Due to the TCP Christmas Concert, Wednesday, there will be a modified day on Wednesday, December 9. The assembly will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the theater. Student dismissal will remain at 2:55 p.m.

Seniors (TCP): Did you order your cap and gown, announcements, or senior ring yet? Balfour will be on campus at lunch time for the final visit Thursday, December 10 in front of the library. All seniors must wear a cap and gown to participate in the graduation ceremony.

Toys for Tots: Toys for Tots and the U.S. Marine Corps Reservists at Miramar need our help. Over 50,000 children are on their Christmas list in San Diego County. Please bring an unwrapped toy to the boxes in Main Office by Thursday, December 17.

Yearbook Deadline! The 2010 Yearbook, "A Modern Perspective," is still only $70.00 per book. A reservation can be made by placing a $35.00 deposit with either Mr. Panlasigui or Mrs. Jones. Cost of the book will increase to $80.00 starting December 11, 2009. Make checks payable to "ECHS ASB" and place "Yearbook" in the check memo.

Attention Seniors! Senior dedications in the 2010 yearbook are now available for purchase as a way for families to honor their graduate. Dedications range in size from 1/8 of a page to a full page. The prices and order form are available in Mr. Panlasigui's room, G-103. Please contact Mr. Panlasigui with any questions regarding the senior dedications.

Semester Finals (TCP): First semester final exams will be given on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,

December 15 – 17. The finals for periods 1 and 2 will be on Tuesday, for periods 3 and 4 on Wednesday, and for periods 5 and 6 on Thursday. Student dismissal will be at 12:00 p.m.

Note: The modified bell schedule is attached. TCP teachers, please inform your blended students of the schedule change.

Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s time for our Annual Christmas Dinner! This year’s event will be held on Friday, December 18, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Dinner, Dancing, Games, and Christmas Carols are a few of the highlights. Instead of a gift exchange, we will hold a food drive to benefit Homefront San Diego. Please bring canned goods, grocery gift cards or cash. Tickets are $20 and will be on sale during lunch, after school, and online beginning Tuesday, December 1. This special event is open to current TCP and ILP students only, no guests. Students must show their school issued ID card at the door. Attire is charter appropriate semi-formal. No denim please.

Attention All Parents! The PAB needs parent volunteers for the Christmas Dinner. We need help selling tickets as well as chaperones on the evening of the event. Ticket sellers are needed at lunch from 12:15-1:00 p.m., December 7, 8, 10, 11, and on December 9 from 11:45 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please email echspab@echs.org, or call Keri Bechstein at 760-855-2293, if you can volunteer your time. We rely on the parent’s participation to make this a successful and fun evening for students and staff.

Community Service: Pioneer Elementary School, located at 980 North Ash Street, is hosting A Night with Santa event on Thursday, December 10. High school volunteers are needed to staff the holiday event for elementary age students and their families from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Additional time is available if volunteers assist with set-up and clean-up. Contact Melinda Britt (mbritt@eusd4kids.org) or Melissa Andrews (mandrews@eusd4kids.org) to sign up.

RYLA Conference: The Escondido Rotary Club is looking for ECHS juniors with demonstrated or potential leadership skills to attend the 2010 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference scheduled for Friday, April 16 to Sunday April 18 in Idyllwild Pines. Three students from ECHS will be selected to attend. Application materials are available from Mrs. McCrory or Mrs. Endermann in the library. Applications are due no later than Friday, December 11 at 3:00 p.m.

Healthcare Volunteer Internship: The Palomar Pomerado Health’s volunteer internship program provides hands-on hospital experience to high school students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. The internship provides students with first-hand knowledge of the various career opportunities in healthcare. Interns rotate through different hospital departments at both Palomar Medical Center and Pomerado Hospital in order to gain insight into the variety of career options in healthcare system. Flyers with detailed information and application instructions are available in the library.

Lost-and-Found: Students are reminded to pickup lost items from the ECHS lost-and-found. There is quite a collection of jackets, jewelry, books, lunch bags, etc. The lost-and-found is located in the TCP administrative office, across from the main office. Items not retrieved by Thursday, December 17, will be donated to a charitable organization.

NHS: Don’t miss the last meeting of 2009, to be held Tuesday, December 8, during lunch (12:30) in F203.

CSF and NHS: Don’t miss the combined card making and caroling party! Come to F203 on Tuesday, December 15, at 12:15. We will be finished by 3:00 pm.

CAP: O-Flights have been scheduled for December 19. Get your forms turned in ASAP.
