Thursday and Friday, January 7 to January 8, 2010

Week 1

Independent Study PE (TCP): All students who were assigned ISPE for the first semester are also assigned ISPE for the second semester (unless reassigned to the PE class or otherwise excused by Mrs. McCrory). New ISPE contracts are required and must be completed – signed and submitted – by Tuesday, January 12, 2010.

Textbooks (TCP): All TCP and Blended students are reminded that all of your textbooks must have your name inside the front cover and have a book cover. Remember, textbooks are very expensive and must be paid for by the student if lost or damaged.

Dress Code: Please be reminded that student clothing must be appropriate to the educational environment and should not bring inappropriate attention to the student or cause a distraction in class. As the weather cools, keep in mind that pajamas and/or slippers are not school attire. Please review the dress code as outlined in your Student Policies and Procedures Handbook.

CSF Applications: If you had good grades last semester and are sophomore, junior, or senior, you may qualify for membership in the California Scholarship Federation (CSF). CSF is a statewide academic recognition organization which promotes scholarship in high school. If you think you may want to be a part of this highly respected organization, pick up an application in the library or main office. Applications must be submitted to Mrs. Endermann in the library no later than Friday, January 29. Reminder: All former members must re-apply each semester.

ASB Officer Elections: Reminder! Tomorrow (Friday) at 3:00 p.m. is the deadline to sign up to be a candidate for the ASB officer election. If you are interested, see Mr. Takagi in Room E100.

Note: The modified schedule is attached. TCP teachers, please inform Blended students of the modified schedule.

Board Meeting: The ECHS Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the library. The meeting will be followed by a lottery for students interested in attending the Traditional Classroom Program next school year. All parents are invited to attend.
Parents Note: If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend a classroom program in the Escondido Charter High School District in August 2010, please ensure your student is on the appropriate lottery list (either TCP for the high school or Heritage K-8 for grades K through 8) and is noted as the sibling of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please submit an application to the ECHS main office by January 15 (for TCP) or March 12 (for Heritage K-8).

Attention Seniors! Senior dedications in the 2010 yearbook are now available for purchase as a way for families to honor their graduate. Dedications range in size from 1/8 of a page to a full page. The prices and order form are available in Mr. Panlasigui's room, G-103. Please contact Mr. Panlasigui with any questions regarding the senior dedications.

Volunteers Needed: Las Villas del Norte, a retirement community is seeking high school students to serve as volunteers in their skilled nursing facility. Volunteers can assist the administrative staff with office tasks or provide companionship for elderly residents. Providing companionship entails activities such as engaging in conversation, taking walks, making crafts, and reading aloud. Interested students should contact Linda Elliott at 760-741-1046.

Attention Charterians: If you have not yet been sorted into a house, now’s your chance! Sorting surveys shall be available at lunch in front of the library Monday through Thursday this week. Stop by and fill one out! Get connected!
