Independent Study PE (TCP): Due to the holiday next week the first week logs are due in the library basket on Wednesday, January 20, by 3:00 p.m. Contact Mrs. Lasley, if you have any questions. CSF: It’s CSF application time again! If you had good grades last semester, you may qualify to be a member of California’s premier academic-based service organization, the California Scholarship Federation (CSF). All grades may apply and members from previous semesters must reapply. Applications must be submitted to Mrs. Endermann in the library no later than Friday, January 29. On Campus Training: Today, January 14, between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., the ILP Criminal Justice class will conduct police officer scenario training on campus. The event will involve a police car, mock arrests, and other activities for training purposes. ASB Elections (TCP): Candidates for ASB officer positions will deliver
election speeches during a brief morning assembly on Friday, January 15.
Voting will take place in front of the library during lunch. Please note
there will not be a modified schedule on Friday. Honors Assembly (TCP): An Honors Assembly to recognize our academic achievers
from the first semester will be held on Friday, January 22, in the Gym
at 2:00 p.m. Attention All House Members (TCP): Friday, 22 January we will hold an All-House Game Day—right after school in the Student Union. You’ll get the chance to engage in fun and friendly competition with your fellow Charterians while snacking on whatever delicacies the houses bring. Excelsior: bring healthy snacks. Conor: beverages. Halcyon: salty snacks. Sideris: sweet snacks. Come and enjoy! Board Meeting: The ECHS Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, January
27, at 5:30 p.m. in the library. The meeting will be followed by a lottery
for students interested in attending the Traditional Classroom Program
next school year. All parents are invited to attend. Attention Seniors and Juniors: We are pleased to announce that Prom 2010 will be held in the American Spirit Theater on May 1, 2010. The tickets will be between $30-$40 depending on the purchasing date. Additional information will be included in future Charter Notes. We look forward to seeing all of you there. Attention Seniors! Senior dedications in the 2010 yearbook are now available for purchase as a way for families to honor their graduate. Dedications range in size from 1/8 of a page to a full page. The prices and order form are available in Mr. Panlasigui's room, G103. Please contact Mr. Panlasigui with any questions regarding the senior dedications. Senior Exhibition (TCP): Seniors are reminded that the Senior Exhibition is rapidly approaching. Three months of preparation time remain. You should have completed your post-graduation plan, college entrance essay, proposal with annotated bibliography, and résumé. Please note the date for the research paper has been changed to Wednesday, February 10. Senior Scholarships: Three scholarships for seniors with January deadlines are posted on the bulletin board in the library. The scholarships are sponsored by The San Diego Foundation, Sam Walton Foundation, and Cox Communications. The San Diego Foundation offers 75 scholarships using one common application! Take advantage of these opportunities to earn cash for college. NCAA Eligibility Center: If you are a junior student-athlete planning on participating in college athletics, now is the time to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. Visit www.eligibilitycenter.org, select fall 2010 or after, and then click on the new account tab at the top of the screen. College QuickStart: My College QuickStart is now available free of charge to all students who took the PSAT Exam in October 2009. Access this online college and career planning kit by visiting www.collegeboard.com/quick and entering the access code printed on your paper score report. QuickStart features include an online score report and personalized SAT study plan plus, career, major, and college exploration tools.
