Week 3

Independent Study PE (TCP): Due to the MLK holiday, the first week logs are due in the library basket on Wednesday, January 20, by 3:00 p.m. Contact Mrs. Lasley, if you have any questions.

Board Meeting: The ECHS Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the library. The meeting will be followed by a lottery for students interested in attending the Traditional Classroom Program next school year. All parents are invited to attend.

Parents Note: If you have a student with a sibling who wants to attend a classroom program in the Escondido Charter School District in August 2010, please ensure your student is on the appropriate lottery list (either TCP for high school or Heritage K-8 for grades K through 8) and is noted as the sibling of a currently enrolled student. To do this, please submit an application to the ECHS main office by January 13 (TCP) or March 3 (Heritage K-8).

CSF: It’s CSF application time again! If you had good grades last semester, you may qualify to be a member of California’s premier academic-based service organization, the California Scholarship Federation (CSF). All grades may apply and members from previous semesters must reapply. Applications must be submitted to Mrs. Endermann in the library no later than Friday, January 29.

Modified Day (TCP): Wednesday, January 20, is a modified day for TCP teacher professional development training. Student dismissal is at 2:00 p.m.
Note: The modified bell schedule is attached. All teachers are requested to ensure blended students are informed of the schedule change.

Honors Assembly (TCP): An Honors Assembly to recognize our academic achievers from the first semester will be held on Friday, January 22, in the Gym at 2:00 p.m.

Attention All House Members (TCP): Friday, January 22, we will hold an All-House Game Day—right after school in the Student Union. You’ll get the chance to engage in fun and friendly competition with your fellow Charterians while snacking on whatever delicacies the houses bring. Excelsior: bring healthy snacks. Conor: beverages. Halcyon: salty snacks. Sideris: sweet snacks. Come and enjoy!

Senior Scholarships: Four new scholarships for seniors with February deadlines are posted on the bulletin board in the library. The new postings include the Ford Salute to Education, Best Buy, and KFC Colonel’s scholarships plus, an essay contest sponsored by the California Association of Collectors. Stop by to see if you are eligible to earn cash for college.

Attention Seniors and Juniors: We are pleased to announce that Prom 2010 will be held in the American Spirit Theater on May 1, 2010. Cost of tickets will range from $30-$40 depending on the purchasing date. Additional information will be included in future Charter Notes. We look forward to seeing all of you there.

Senior Exhibition (TCP): Seniors are reminded that the Senior Exhibition is rapidly approaching. Three months of preparation time remain. Please note the date for the research paper has been changed to Wednesday, February 10.

Junior Miss Scholarship: The San Diego Junior Miss (SDJM) organization is looking for outstanding junior girls to participate in the 2010 scholarship program. The organization strives to promote personal development and reward excellence and achievement through scholarships. Additional information is posted on the scholarship bulletin board in the library. Deadline to register is February 6.

Attention Seniors: Senior dedications in the 2010 yearbook are now available for purchase as a way for families to honor their graduate. Dedications range in size from 1/8 of a page to a full page. The prices and order form are available in Mr. Panlasigui's room, G103. Please contact Mr. Panlasigui with any questions regarding the senior dedications.

Key Club: Don’t forget it’s been moved to Mrs. Dunlap’s room E200 on Wednesdays during lunch. Also, Key Club is still trying to get new members, so stop on by if you are interested. Remember, if you are a current member of Key Club and bring someone new to the meeting, you will both get a special treat!
