Escondido Charter High SchoolCHARTER NOTES
SAT Prep Class: ECHS plans to offer an eight-week SAP Prep class beginning in February. Additional information, including the starting date, class time, and cost, will be promulgated in the Charter Notes sometime next week. FAFSA: Seniors pursuing post-secondary education during the 2010-2011 school year are encouraged to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA determines eligibility to receive financial assistance to attend college. Visit www.fafsa.gov to access the online application. Although the priority deadline to file the FAFSA is March 2, seniors are encouraged to complete and submit the form by mid-February. Cal Grant: Cal Grant eligibility is determined by information reported in the FAFSA and GPA reported to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). ECHS will submit GPA’s to the CSAC electronically. To be included in the electronic submission, seniors (and a parent if the senior is under 18 years of age) must sign and submit the Cal Grant Information Release Form no later than this Tuesday, February 2. Completed release forms should be turned into Mrs. McCrory (TCP) or Teachers of Record (ILP). Interested In Buying a Yearbook? There are currently less than forty copies of the book left for purchase. If sales trends continue, the yearbook supply could be sold out by the end of next month. It is impossible to order more books from the publisher, so please give your yearbook down payment (or pay off your yearbook balance) to Mr. Panlasigui or Mrs. Jones (G103 or G104) as soon as possible. Book cost is still $80.00. Modified Schedule (TCP): There will be a modified schedule on Friday,
January 29. Lunch will be longer to accommodate a staff meeting. Dismissal
remains at 2:55 p.m. Haiti Relief Fund: With the recent tragedy that has claimed the lives of numerous innocent Haitians, the demand for financial assistance is dire. As a school, we are working together to raise money in order to provide relief in Haiti. The Key Club has organized 2 ways to raise money. First, you can go to the school website and click on a link to donate money online. Secondly, collection jars have been placed in each 1st period class. We are hoping to raise $1000 as a school. CSF: It’s CSF application time again! If you had good grades last
semester, you may qualify to be a member of California’s premier
academic-based service organization, the California Scholarship Federation
(CSF). All grades may apply and members from previous semesters must reapply.
Applications must be submitted to Mrs. Endermann in the library no later
than Friday, January 29. Junior Miss Scholarship: The San Diego Junior Miss (SDJM) organization is looking for outstanding junior girls to participate in the 2010 scholarship program.
