Escondido Charter High School
"Education Is Our Business"

CSF
California Scholarship Federation

Escondido Charter High School is proud to offer membership in the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) to its students who qualify.CSF has a long history of promoting “scholarship for service” and members are representatives of this ideal. What does this mean?

CSF members
• are expected to maintain high academic standards
• participate in school-related and non-school service projects
• are encouraged to become leaders among their peers
• receive honors at graduation which include the CSF seal on the diploma
• may be eligible for the members-only Seymour Award.

Membership in CSF is an honor which must be earned each semester.
That means that each semester, members must reapply, using the previous semester’s grades to qualify. If a student qualifies for membership, his application will be approved and his name will be included in the membership list for that semester. Dues* will then be collected within two weeks of the first club meeting.

There are different levels of membership in this chapter of CSF:

Associate members are freshmen (second semester) and sophomores (first semester).
Full membership is achieved in spring of your sophomore year.

Active members are those members (full or associate) who attend all of the
member meetings (no more than 2 absences) and participate in the group’s service projects for that semester while doing at least 10 hours of community service per semester.

Sealbearers are students who have been full members in CSF for at least four semesters, one of which was during senior year. Sealbearers (also called
Life Members) receive a life membership certificate and pin upon graduation.

Sealbearers who have been active members for at least two semesters receive the additional honor of wearing a gold cord at graduation.

Some of the things our chapter has done include bake sales, helping to set up a community Halloween carnival, trips to Knotts Berry Farm and Medieval Times, beach cleanup, and helping senior citizens with yard work. If you have ideas about how this chapter can promote scholarship for service, we welcome your input!

If you have any questions about ECHS’s chapter of CSF, please ask the adviser (Mrs. Rea) or any of the current CSF officers.

* Dues of $5 will be collected from each member at the beginning of each semester of membership.
