ECHS Chess Club

Chess PiecesThe Escondido Charter High School Chess Club meets promptly for an hour every Monday at 3 p.m. at Building F, Room 203. As the club expands the location will shift to Building D, Room 202
(library, 2nd floor). Every Thursday from 12:20 p.m. to 1 p.m. chess sets are set up near the Lincoln statue for outdoor chess at lunch.

ECHS Chess Club Goals 2008– 2009 School Year:

1. Develop an even larger chess club student base.
2. Add chess clocks.
3. Add individual chess logs.
4. Practice using chess clocks and chess logs.
5. Emphasize the rules of good sportsmanship so that one of the things Escondido Charter High School will be known for will be the quality and sportsmanship of its chess players.
6. Begin taking on opposing high schools in formal chess tournaments.
7. Affiliate the ECHS Chess Club with the United States Chess Federation (USCF).
8. Get each chess player certified in the USCF with his/her own rating.
9. Hold a schoolwide, annual chess tournament for the 2008 - 2009 school year.
