“The American Spirit”
Bronze sculptures by Phyllis Peuker Raynes
May 28, 2008 Installation and Unveiling

The sculptures were
created from the world famous patriotic painting
"The Spirit of 76" painted by Archibald M.
Willard circa 1876.

The sculptures
arrive on site.

The first sculpture to be put in place by Heritage
Bronze Fine Art Foundry located in Hesperia, CA is Samuel,
the older man leading the charge in the famous painting and now in real
life size at the "American
Spirit Theater" at
Escondido Charter High School.

Owner Bob Escoto of Heritage
Bronze Fine Art Foundry (pictured on the right) stands
with his crew for a photo during the installation of the sculptures.

Josh Peuker, grandson
of the artist, helps Dennis
"Coach" Snyder, founder of Escondido Charter High School,
unveil the sculptures for the very first time.

Phyllis Peuker Raynes, multi-talented artist/sculptor who previously
created “The Flag Raising” sculptures that are located in
front of ECHS’ main entrance to Escondido Charter High School,
created this extraordinary piece of artwork. The sculptures that are
comprised of three life-size figures dressed in clothing from the Revolutionary
War era with an accompanying flag and flagpole pay tribute to the founding
of our great nation. Dennis “Coach” Snyder is pictured here
with Phyllis at the unveiling of these amazing statues at the entrance
to the
“American
Spirit Theater".
