Assessment & Accountability

Accountability is one of the cornerstones of ECHS. Please use the links below to review our Assessment & Accountability information:

Academic Accomplishments:

ACCREDITATION — ECHS received a six-year term of accreditation in June 2007 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL EXIT EXAM (CAHSEE) — Typically, more than 95% of students taking the CAHSEE for the first time pass the test in both English language arts and mathematics.

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE INDEX (API) — The 2006-2007 base API is 817. A school’s API is a number that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the results on statewide tests. The state has set 800 as the API target for schools to meet.

SIMILAR SCHOOLS/STATE RANKING — ECHS’s 2006-2007 Similar Schools and State Ranking are 10, the highest given. The Similar Schools ranking compares the school to 100 demographically-matched schools in California. The statewide ranking of 10 means that the school has an API that is in the top 10% of all schools in the state.

SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST (SAT) — ECHS students score above state and local averages on the SAT. Students in the class of 2007 earned the following mean scores on SATs taken in their junior year:

Verbal: 518
Math: 556
Writing: 564
