Assessment & Accountability

Accountability is one of the cornerstones of ECHS. Please use the links below to review our Assessment & Accountability information:

Academic Accomplishments:

ACCREDITATION — ECHS received a six-year term of accreditation in June 2007 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE INDEX (API) — On September 15, 2009, the California Department of Education released API results for the 2008-2009 school year. The 2009 growth API is 832, up five points from the 2008 base API of 827. The API is a number that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the results on statewide tests. The state has set 800 as the API target for schools to meet.

SIMILAR SCHOOLS/STATE RANKING — ECHS’s 2007-2008 Similar Schools Ranking is 10, the highest given. The Similar Schools Ranking compares ECHS to 100 demographically matched schools in California. ECHS’s 2007-2008 Statewide Ranking is 9. The Statewide Ranking of 9 means that the school has an API that is in the top 20% of all high schools in the state. Rankings for the 2008-2009 school year will be released in May 2010.

CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL EXIT EXAM (CAHSEE) — Students take the CAHSEE for the first time in March of their sophomore year. In March 2009, 99% of 10th graders taking the English-language arts portion of the test passed, and 94% passed the mathematics portion.

SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST (SAT) — ECHS students scored 35 to 45 points higher in every section of the SAT when compared to the state average. Students in the class of 2009 earned the following mean scores on the SATs:

Verbal: 548
Mathematics: 550
Writing: 532

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND – ECHS met all 10 federal accountability criteria in 2009 under the No Child Left Behind Act. These performance criteria include testing participation rate, student proficiency rates in math and English, API, and graduation rate.
